Arturo Vidal

According to Bild we are close to agreeing a £31M, 4 year deal for the 30 year old in the summer, Doubling his salary in the process, Vidal leaving paves say for Leon Goretzka of Schalke to join Bayern Munich in the summer on a free transfer.

Whilst Vidal would definitely improve our starting XI this would be a very strange signing from the club, He's no resale value, He's over 30 so anything over a 1 year deal would go against club policies.

Not to sure what to make of this at all.

Thoughts?

Yeah I think no matter how you scout a player, if you don't have basic control and touch by the time your in your 20's you don't improve that. Ramires become a good player for us but his touch never improved. It just doesn't happen.

Having said that, Drogba managed to sort himself out, his basic play was atrocious in that first season.

I thought it was through most his time tbh, 2 touch max he was great, anything more than that, the ball ran away from him, he'd hurt himself or fall over. His passing was probably his worst attribute.

Bakayoko is 22 i think, with good coaching he can definitely improve his touch.

if you play football you'll know that with good coaching you can defintely improve your technical ability, I've seen it at amatuer level so im sure a pro can too lol

Not to the level needed, if being at a pro club for years you still can't control the ball, something is fundamentally wrong. You can train it from the ground up to an adequate level but it will never be up there with the better players in the team.

Ramires, Gronkjaer, Jokanovic, bakayoko just a few I can think of. Had their skills, control not one of them.

How do you even train your first touch, must be embarrassing for the individual if the team are working on drills and tactics while one professional is being made to kick it against a wall in the car park for hours at the age of 22. Same with Lukaku for us, he's only 24 so still young, but no amount of training is going to turn him into a technical striker. Makes more sense to get even better at the things you're already good at.

Short termism again from Chelsea. Is there going to be another opportunity cost as usual?

"Short termism"

Cant always buy players expected to stay 5-6 years with real value.

Hed be 30-35m.. Not that costly in today's market and if he contributed to another title win would you care? I wouldn't.
