Wenger will never be fired. Love him or hate him, he has proven his value to the board for years, if not always the fanbase. But I don't see him carrying on beyond his current contract, so who would you like to see come in to replace him after he retires? (Be realistic, please).
Some people have suggested going young with someone like Eddie Howe. While I respect him hugely, I feel we always need to be aiming for someone more tried and tested with a club of this size, so my suggestion is Rafael Benitez. Before you laugh, let me qualify that statement...
Benitez has done quite well with a fairly limited set of resources at Newcastle - a team with longstanding ownership issues and who aren't really expected to be much other than relegation battlers given their recent history. Looking back further, he had great success at Liverpool, failing to win the league but delivering them everything else including the one thing that has always eluded us - the Champions League.
I'm not for one minute suggesting he could win us the CL just because he's done it before, but think of what he might be able to do with a larger team than his current one and a decent budget. He also has good connections in Spain (remember the likes of Torres, Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia playing for him?) and unlike Wenger, who is stubborn and has no backup plan, Benitez is a known tinkerer of systems and squad rotation. Passengers don't tend to get long immunities from him, unlike our current manager who seemingly persists with the wrong players for years.
Benitez is 57 and so still has a good few years left, but is seasoned and shrewd enough to know his way around a big team which wants to go places. So he's my pick. Who's yours?

.... Gilles Grimandi.

Yeah it will be someone poncy like Grimandi or Flamini. Don't expect a big name to come in.

Should go with someone quite young, English and have at least 10 years’ experience in the English game. That really points towards one obvious candidate: Rooney.

Eddie Howe will be well suited after we're left in midtable by Wenger.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst seems to be the main rumour.

We all know that when Wenger goes we'll get another 'Yes man' who will suck up to the likes of that buffoon Chips Keswick - yes Wenger needs to go - but until useless Silent Stan (silent because he doesn't know anything about football) & the board with his token son on it goes too it is unlikely that anything will change for the better.
