Firmino 10 game ban minimum

As the FA release a statement advising that they are to investigate the allegations of racism used against Mason Holgate by Roberto Firmino in the Merseyside derby last night the player is likely to face a minimum 10 game ban if found guilty.

Just as the Brazilian comes into some good form for the first time this season the reds are more than likely not going see him in a red shirt for a very long time.

Racism is completely unacceptable in today's world and even more so in the spotlight of the highest levels of football. I hope the FA throw the book at him and don't just settle for the minimum sentence.

Jlou, I don’t remember saying any of this. Unless you are making a lazy generalisation?

Coutinho - people defending Firmino already, or going out to say Holgates push is worse, or making up their own conclusions before any enquiry. See how greatteams, welsh Xavi or even surprisingly mamba have reacted for the proper way.

So far, there’s more out there suggesting that Firmino hasn’t said anything racist. If he has, then he should have the book thrown at him. But he doesn’t seem that sort of a player, he’s a ‘happy’ player as opposed to aggressive. My money’s on it being a ‘misunderstanding’, where Holgate has assumed what Firmino has said.

You’re just labling everyone the same as with the Suarez incident, making unintelligent comparisons. You’re no better than what you’re accusing Liverpool fans of, and it’s got feck all to do with Spurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Term clueless as usual, what a surprise.

I, for one, would be surprised if Firmino said anything & believe it could be a misunderstanding as well as Firmino isn't "that type of player" to use a cliche. Yet I have no clue, as do none of us which is why I am not criticising Holgate or Firmino.

In this very thread the following comments have been said:

"And, I don’t care what anyone says, calling someone names isn’t worse than physical assault, which could have ended in very serious injury. "

"One can only hope hes apologised to Firmino after the game asked what fihlo de putaaa or w.e means shook hands and moved on. What Holgate did was disgusting and it doesnt happen in the game often thankfully but hes a young lad and thankfully noone was hurt. No idea how he wasn't even booked and how we didnt even get a free kick out of it officiating in this country."

"Holgate has deleted his Twitter account as well.

"I may report to the police about Holgate being racist."

When Suarez-Evra gate happened. Suarez was blindly defended/Evra's credibility was attacked before any evidence had even been discovered. That is the comparison, not hard to understand.

The circumstances are different and you know it. Firmino is no Suarez, he’s not put a foot wrong since he’s been at the club and has no history anywhere else. So I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, innocent til proven guilty. Whether you like it or not, at this stage there is more to suggest Firmino didn’t say anything racist, so I can’t see why you have a problem with anyone defending him.

Firmino was charged with drink driving not so long ago.

Actually forgot about that. He rightly got severely criticised by everyone for that, but it’s not on the pitch, so not really relevant to this.

Why did Holgate push Firmino into the crowd anyway? What was he so wound up about?

There’s going to be a lot of upset people on here if Firmino is found not to have racially abused Holgate.

If Firmino is found to be innocent of this accusation, then Holgate needs to face a ban. The reason is because the player would have made up an accusation of racism to avoid retrospective action for his violent conduct.

Just ead an opinion from a professional lip reader.......firmino was angrily confronted hokgate and what he said translates to 'Are you crazy? You son of a b!tch'

Whatever he said was in portuguese so im wondering how holgate interpreted the whole thing? He was clearly wound up before the confrontation!

Fair play to the FA for banning him this season. Any idea when he's back playing again?
