Dunfermline Away

Our away form is killing us for the second season in a row. Over 1400 Arabs were at the match yesterday and it was really poor viewing. Dunfermline looked happy to sit in, which left us watching our defence play sideways pass after sideways pass. Time and time again this season we’ve shown that we can’t break down teams who sit deep. We really missed the drive you et from Fyvie, as well as Fraser’s eye for a pass which could, on another day, have unlocked the Dunfermline defence.

The team look like their heads have gone - I think the drubbing they got last week has knocked all the confidence out of them and they look scared. At one point in the first half McDonald was through and looked like he could get a shot away on goal, but instead he rolled the ball out wide to the full back. Scott McDonald ffs - when did you ever see him. It take a shot on?!

I thought McMullan was making decent runs in the first half, unfortunately none of his team mates noticed so they never tried to pick him out, mostly because we seem to be allergic to moves down the right hand side - everything we do seems to be focused on Robson and King on the left.

It made a difference having Durnan back, as much for his positioning as anything else.

Basically I ended up really frustrated - every time we had a goa kick Lewis took his time and waited for everyone to get in position. It made it incredibly easy for Dunfermline to play us. No pace, no urgency - too many players who looked scared to lose rather than going all out to win.

8 points adrift now - 45 to play for. If we win our game in hand we cut it to 5, but who could honestly say that they’re optimistic about Utd winning a midweek away match at QotS?! I read a thing on Twitter with an estimated list of how many first team players each team was missing for their respective matches yesterday, either through suspension or injury. St Mirren had 2 out, Utd had 8. I know people go on about our squad but very few teams could carry that.

Anyway, a bit of a rambling article (ramblicle?) but I don’t care.

Despondent from Dundee.

How embarrassing not to get out of the Championship in one season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is. Do they not have the biggest wage budget in the championship?! Imagine spending all that money compared to your competitors and not winning it at the first attempt. You could never escape that level of embarrassment.

That’s exactly what it’s like. Except DUs will likely be for a lot longer 👍

United are a in a bit of trouble the new manager bounce seems to have disappeared and the team appear confused and scared, I feel they will have little chance of promotion because of the SPFL premier bias.

Oh! You've mistakenly posted this on the Scottish Premier page.

----------------------------------------------------------------------You’re right - after McKinnon left it seemed like they had an extra bit of zip to the play, not to mention a plan. Unfortunately now it seems to be the same old problem we’ve had for a few seasons, no plan B!

It's amazing how sheidt we are when Scott Fraser isn't available.

And yet a fair chunk of our fans routinely call for him to be dropped because he brushes his hair out of his eyes from time to time.

Anyway, that's all in the past now since he's reportedly signed a pre-contract with Hearts. I doubt we'll see him in a United shirt again given his injury.

As for the result - pleased with the clean sheet, I don't think it's a bad point to be honest but obviously disappointing to fall further behind.

Plenty of twists and turns ahead. Hopefully St Mirren go through an injury period like we do!

For me the thing about Fraser is that he isn’t scared to try something different, and that’s what we seem to be lacking. I think there’ll be a few twists yet, eight points is a lot though!!
