Friday News!

Hello, and welcome to the Friday news with me, claretgunnergirl. That's claret gunner girl, for all you tennis fans out there. Not Clare t'gunnergirl.

Well, it's been a while since I last did this, so lets start with a quick round up of the comings and goings at Burnley FC in the past 18 months: hello Premier League football; goodbye Owen Coyle; hello Brian Laws; hello Championship football; goodbye Steven Fletcher; hello Lee Grant, Chris Iwelumo & Charlie Austin; goodbye Brian Laws; hello Eddie Howe; goodbye play off places. I think that just about covers it in a nut shell.

According to the majority of fans in the Burnley News survey, missing out on the play-offs wasn't a massive disappointment. The overriding feeling is one of expectation - with a young and ambitious manager and the core of a promising side, the future is looking bright for the Clarets. The return of Chris McCann to the side after a long injury lay-off is a particular highlight, although whether Burnley can hold on to him and secure the signature of fellow midfielder Jack Cork remains to be seen. The Friday news will of course keep you right up to date with any breaking news ... as long as it happens on a Friday.

On a side note, massive congratulations should go to Grezza for 1000 career appearances - no true fan of the game, or of sport in general, can disagree that he is a consumate sports professional and a great example to all young footballers everywhere.

Away from the football field, I'm pleased to say the closure of evil 606 and the opening of its clone, ja606, has lead to the rejuvenation of my Friday News career, and the chance for the old gang to get back together again. It's been great to catch up with the old Burnley boarders and to find out what's been happening in their lives. We have the dramatic news that Rick likes men, that Ontario has managed to stay with his latest lady for more than five minutes and that Spanish is still surviving out there in foreign climes on his favoured vodka with lemon Fanta. However, the Friday News wanted to delve deeper into the lives of Burnley ja606ers, so sent out it's private investigator who uncovered some intesresting facts ... who knew that Telford lived such a dramatic life filled with relationship traumas and a seemingly unhealthy addiction to (hopefully) ironic Facebook groups? And Exiled is a grumpy night-owl chef with a passion for late night chats and a flair for DIY?

The Friday News is still awaiting confirmation of the results of the promotion and relegation prediction competition between Spanish and myself. A bit like watching the BBC on election night, the results are slow in coming and probably disappointing when they arrive - hopefully there'll be an update next week!

You may remember that the old Friday News had a section on the best videos of the week, although the production team can't remember whether this was done by Telford or WES ... I've never been able to tell those two apart!! However, in place of the amusing videos, please take a moment to tell WES your opinion on the best Burnley goal of the season:

Wow they must be a rare breed....

Goonz, Spanish is a very rare breed indeed! In the nicest possible way of course.

Spanish, just stick them up in a new article and we can work out who got the most points.
