Hull V Forest 4th Rnd Match Thread

Barring a miracle, Forest aren’t going anywhere other than mid-table. A cup run would’ve lifted the place a little. Oh well...🤨

Wasn't mid-table what most of us hoped for last August. This season is all about laying foundations both on and off the pitch. That is what is being done.

I expected that Bridcutt would be missed yesterday, but with Bouch playing so poorly his absence was magnified.

Another Bridcutt type and a goalscorer coming in next week would be good but if nothing happens we can do it in the summer.

Small sure-footed steps are needed. Lots of them.

We got about two minutes of coverage right at the end of the BBC's Cup show last night. The second goal was such a soft goal, again the Left Back Fox didn't know he had a man running in behind him. That's down to the defence not talking and shouting to one another, I blamed Traore before, but perhaps he was being let down by his team mates.

The only player that we have been linked with, that's worth having imo is Clayton, but it looks like we don't fancy paying the fee?

I’d have Clayton but I wouldn’t pay a big inflated Jan fee for him. Perhaps if the club were within single figures of the play offs but then you can’t take chances with FFP, I think.

We’re lacking two captains at the moment.

We need a left footed CB captain.
And we need a Bastrd of a DCM.

Worral I’ve seen be vocal enough when things are going well and communicates with RB well enough. When things aren’t going well, it’s silent. Manc is Manc, you cant demand something from the lad that he just isn’t, but we need someone to be loud not just to mentor Worral, but it will encourage Worral to be that much better captain material in the future.

Then we need a younger, louder Vaughan who will organise and motivate (what is a very good bunch of players in their day) players when it’s not our day.

Without those two we just don’t have the steel to claw ourselves back into games and the whole season will hinge on who scores first.

Issue is that other than a striker, those are probably the hardest positions to get on a budget.

Forest will continue to be a soft touch when they have a lot of inexperience in the team. They’ll learn from it but they’ll be more bumps on the road undoubtedly. It’s a big ask to perform week in week out and a few look like they needed time out yesterday but there just won’t be the opportunity.
