No, I don't have some secret formula. I'm just interested in how people on here would set up to beat them if they were the United coach taking on City.
Id go 433 and have 1 of the the 3 man Mark KDB, with Rashford, Lukaku and Sanchez playing high and pressing Ederson and the City defence.
Offensively I'd play direct to Lukaku. This might go against the grain but this would certainly make the city defenders think twice about getting forward as they do.
Please 1 star if you think this is a great thread.

If you man mark De Bruyne, then from Fernandinho...

Well, yes, that too
You either man mark all of the midfield or none of them. Personally I only think it works as a tactic against a line attacking midfielder.

Or one of the advancing CBs.

Or the keeper. Full backs as well sometimes. Possibly even the wingers. Maybe the centre forward too.

And wouldn't we all rather it was Fernandinho or Oramendi trying to find the forwards because KDB can't receive the ball ?

Do what Palace did and try to match them. Defensively they can be got at.

Defend deep and punt ball forward, aimlessly to a large lump when in the off chance possession of the ball is regained. Hope for the best!
Tried and tested Jose strategy. Never fails!
