A tale of two 2-2 draws...

Afternoon all.

Interesting comparison between two goals Spurs conceded vs Juventus last night, and the two goals conceded by Liverpool against Spurs at Anfield recently.

Comparison 1:

Kane 'offside' goal vs Higuain's offside goal.

Kane's was debatable - due to law changes and the speed of the play (although, despite being a Spurs fan, I would like the law changed back / reconfirmed so that such scenarios ARE definitely known to be offside). Despite this all officials have confirmed the laws of the game were adhered to correctly.

HiguaĆn's was far more clear cut. Unforgiveable really as it was direct from a free kick and the linesman would / should have been perfectly in line. A good yard beyond the last man with no touches in between.

Result:

Liverpool mental breakdown, days of articles about how disgusting it was. Column inches galore. All the pundits on UK / US sports channels analysing and reanalysing in super slo-mo, frame-by-frame replays from as many angles as possible. Linesman should be lynched. Officials are biased. Head ref called in to justify himself. Some individuals deem it acceptable to hack Dele Alli's iCloud in a fit of rage.

Spurs fans create no articles on the subject (as far as I can tell). Lineker asked Rio if it should have been flagged offside. His response? "Yeah, it was but..." and never mentioned again.

Comparison 2:

Van Dijk's kick on Lamela when he didn't know he was coming out of his blindspot vs Ben Davies' kick on Bernardeschi (I believe?) in the same predicament. Both were clear pens to anyone who has been watching football for the past 20 years.

There was also a lot of comment on Lamela being offside in the lead up to the van Dijk incident. However it only looked about 4-5 inches from the funky camera angles provided with the defender actually shoving Lamela offside.

Result:

see above.

Apologies to those who were glad to put the Anfield issues to bed! But the clear comparisons with last night in Turin were too obvious to ignore.
