Have a play

Derby could be the first team to get over 80 points and not reach the play offs according to my predictions
1 Wolves not included
2 Villa 93
3 Fulham 89
4 Sheff Utd 83
5 Boro 82
6 Cardiff 81
7 Derby 81
8 Norwich 80

All games could go either way. Forest beat Wolves at Molineux. Ours is a solid if unspectacular style so it would be surprising if there was a major change in performance. If we have got a little under 2 points a game thus far then most likely we will get about the same. I can't see us winning nearly all and I doubt we will lose many since our defence has been very tight. We will be solidly in the 80s as far as points go. The other teams are more variable. Villa are in great form right now but in December, around the time they lost to us, they went 5 games getting 3 points. When teams are on winning streaks they seem invincible but such a run could easily happen again. I mentioned on another thread that Jim Smith's promotion team had a shocking run in March/April. I think we will hold our nerve well enough but it depends on how well Villa or less likely Cardiff hold theirs. Jack Nicklaus said he used to try to hang around the top of the leaderboard in majors and wait for those around him to crumble. That seemed to work pretty well for him.

Isn't that what they all do or are you saying that Jack deliberately missed shots so as not to take top spot.

Iwas, they simply looked at my "where will we finish" prediction on Peeder's thread

Iwas, I worry about you. First Gameinhandgate and now this. Jack never used to take too many chances, played the steady game, plenty of pars etc. Others felt they needed to gamble, get a couple of birdies to win, and in trying to get too close to the flag ended up in trouble from where they made bogey or worse.
That was the analogy. Ask an adult to explain it if still unsure. Of course sometimes the gamble pays off, but more often slow and steady wins the race, as the saying goes.

Don’t ask me Iwas. I have no idea what he’s on about either.

I think it’s to do with a golfer going round a course in less shots than his opponent. There’s more to it. Can’t wait to hear more.

Close but no cigar Iwas. It’s fewer rather than less.

So, Whose doing the Match Thread this week? It's an important game. Our season could well hinge on their result.
