Never thought before the match we would get a favourable result. Not a failure amongst the players tonight. Won’t single out any of them, because that would be unfair on the others.

Fair play to the manager as well. Everyone had been calling into question his ability to be more pragmatic (and it’s funny reading the start of this thread to see some of his biggest critics slating that approach), but the team looked far more solid tonight, whilst still being creative going forward. Made the right substitution at the right time.

Cracking atmosphere, great night.

Agreed

I was saying how defensive and unimaginative it looked but not sure we had much option

However the team were solid.

Glad to be proven wrong

I wasn’t having a go at you with my comments btw CS-it was the comments by bears at the start of the thread!

They’ve been saying for a while that he has to change his approach in these games, and then when he does he gets labelled a scheidt bag.

Oh-and the referee and linesmen were abysmal tonight. Could have and should have booked a few Zenit players in the first hour, and then went card happy towards the end. Some of the decisions were bewildering as well.

I agree that some of his decisions were strange but I rarely go to a game and not think that.

Although he's a poor ref I thought he contributed to making quite a spectacle of the match. He gave us a lot of advantages.

Ajer was Motm for me by a mile. Brilliant best centre half display in Europe since Virgil.

I think that suited him to do that though Magnum. There’s no way we should have had the same number of yellow cards as they did.

I don’t know who I’d go with as MOTM-don’t disagree that Ajer had a great game though.

I actually thought the Ref was pretty decent, let thme game flow a lot more than the Euro refs usually do.
