Having listened to DF’s press conference it seems reasonable to expect changes for “out-of-form" players tomorrow. He saw the cause of the midweek loss as the shock of conceding 3 fairly early goals and recognised that the lack of resilience could not continue to be blamed on inexperienced young players. He thought that despite this lapse the squad were not mentally fragile as shown by the run of draws against the form teams.
Paul Goodwin alluded to a need for aggression and the unpopularity of 3-at-the-back but DF defended the latter, but did not comment on aggression. He effectively acknowledged that the team plays better when Copps is there and he expects the experience of Baudry, back in the squad again, will help.
He did not accept that the pattern of 2 years ago was in prospect; there is more substance in the current squad he thought and in this I do agree, although we are all a bit nervous I think.
He referred to Fleetwood having lost 6 in succession and they have at HOME and against some strong teams too, but he appears to have overlooked their away form which includes 3 wins out of the last 4. I saw them beat a poor Southend side (their new manager has since turned them around) very impressively, so I do not imagine that they will be exactly dejected as they take to the field and I thenk we will have a game on our hands.
I will retain my faith and go for a 2-1 win with Beestin the scorer. 7100 is my guess at the crowd

Yes good to see Marco back in goal. He was developing into a decent keeper before his injury. Difficult to understand why DF has continued to deploy the three at the back system for so many games. I'd guess the senior players made the point after Walsall. Let's hope he admits his mistake and not put all the blame on the players.

I have noticed that trait of Fergusons, often squarely blaming the players.
Also!does anyone remember him dropping Butler after AB questioned him on the back three system.

We are a happier if not a completely happy band of supporters this week, the only proviso being that the opposition might have provided the best of tests. In fact Rosler thought, like DF last week that they suffered a shock reaction to go behind.
We and DF especially needed this one and hopefully it will be the start of another burst of form.
Top marks again for Uthred just a goal away from the 10 point bonus for 100%.

Donaldo,
I thought getting points for the scorer was the first goal, not any goal,
Obviously I was wrong!

No, I was wrong - I got carried away with the inspired prediction. Apologies to Uthred and and Yorkshire Lad.

Lanza,
I complete change of subject. An electronic wine newsletter I get just had an article on “The World’s 15 Most Stunning Wineries” (either the building or the location) and one was on Lanzarote – Bodegas Los Bermejos near San Bartolomé in the centre of the island. Ever heard of it? It was there for the location with vines planted in holes in volcanic ash. The website has no pictures of the winery.
We are beginning to get a few wines from the Canary Islands over here, but I have not seen this one.
In vino veritas.
