I see Ken Bates as a Gregory of the walking dead... or how he used to be before the apocalypse.. has nothing at all to do with the thread.. but thought I'd share that

Sorry but this really irritates me, bought the ground back from a rumoured Bates holding company, who did he buy it for? certainly not for your average Leeds fan, he bought it so that there was an asset he can later use to make a nice little earner from and to get you mugs by the balls. He was able to get our great little club for relatively next to nothing because the club didn't own, one of the two assets that is worth anything, the ground. It was a calculating move aimed at nothing else but increasing the sell on value of the club, hell of a lot cheaper than investing in a decent squad.
I mentioned two assets, the greatest one being us, the supporters, he knows that without us, ER is a white elephant, get the supporters to fill the ground and to any potential buyer it looks like a going concern, how do you do that without investing the money the club needs to be competitive, simple, buy back the ground.
It's a cynical and calculating manoeuvre.
He no more has the wellbeing of our club at heart than Brian Clough did.
Bet he laughs himself to sleep each night thinking how easily the good folks of Leeds are to sucker in and dreaming of the profit that's just around the corner.

Ground wasn't owned by a Bates holding company or Bates at all.

A great chairman who brought us success and a total gentleman. Ken Bates was the opposite in all counts.

He was Claude Greengrass with Deirdre Barlow's glasses.
