European Darts Open 2018

Leverkusen hosts the first European Tour event of the season, and the action kicked off yesterday.

The top 16 in the PDC Order of Merit qualified automatically, and start in round 2.
The first round, which took place on Friday, saw 32 qualifiers enter. The likes of Adrian Lewis, James Wade, Justin Pipe and John Henderson going through this route.

Round One Highlights
Adrian Lewis survived 2 match darts at 5-3 down to beat Ritchie Edhouse 6-5.
James Wade beat Steve Beaton 6-3, while Pipe and Henderson both made it through.
Danny Noppert beat fellow Dutchman Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-4, while Dimitri van de Bergh, Cameron Menzies and Luke Woodhouse were among the others progressing.
One big name losing on day 1 was Vincent van der Voort, losing 6-4 to Finnish star Marco Kantele.


Round Two Highlights
Rob Cross smashed Adrian Lewis 6-1, posting a 107+ average.
Michael van Gerwen beat Cameron Menzies 6-3.
Richard North held his nerve to beat Gerwyn Price 6-5 in a game that had no breaks of throw. Another PL player to fall was Daryl Gurney, who lost to Ron Meulenkamp.
James Wade beat Jelle Klaasen, while Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall and Mensur Suljovic were among the others to progress.


Third Round highlights
Richard North beat Rob Cross 6-5, while MvG beat Chuck Norris 6-3.
James Wade continued his good form, beating Michael Smith.
Peter Wright put in another strong performance, 6-2 win over Henderson. Mensur Suljovic was beaten by Mervyn King.
