I think the building blocks of 2011-13 Chelsea are actually very underrated and is often not talked about, but they actually give me huge hope for the potential appointment of Tuchel/Jardim.
The last time we hired a progressive manager with modern ideas and a clear philosophy was Villas-Boas. His arrival saw the signings of Mata (23), Lukaku (18), Courtois (19), De Bruyne (20) and Piazon (18).
Villas-Boas was asked by Roman to phase out the 'old guard' and replace them with young technical players with huge potential. He finally tried to build the Chelsea he always wanted to see.
However, We all know the affect of player power at Chelsea and when several big players lost faith in AVB, Roman panicked and instead of holding his ground he made AVB the scapegoat even though it was Romans idea.
So we replaced him with Di Matteo and we all know the rest but we continued to buy young, Technical players with Hazard (21), Azpilicueta (22), Oscar (20), Wallace (18) and Moses (21).
Roman was building for Guardiola which is why he made the desperate move of finding an interim coach in Benitez that would definitely leave in the summer.
Like many said at the time, He built a sports car for Pep to come and drive but he chose Bayern and we got Jose.
Sports car to tank, Building blocks destroyed. You know the rest.
The key thing to remember here is that our long term goal was ruined by the fact that Roman buckled under pressure in 11/12, which is ironic as it created the greatest moment in our history.
I do think we are gonna see a change of philosophy at the club similiar to 2011-12 come the end of the season and the fact we are talking to likes of Luis Campos as a director of football and Jardim/Tuchel to take over would support this.
Change of Philosophy part 2?

The circle of life at Stamford Bridge is almost complete.
You guys are already strong favourites for next season regardless of the manager is.

Lol young technical players and you included moses in that?
But yeah AVB was just a terrible man manager and treated veterans at the club terribly. No suprise he didn't last.

Looking at that list and the overall project back then was to sign good technical players to build a pleasing on the eye team.
Which makes the Lukaku signing a bit weird, did we really fall for his act on the Stamford Bridge tour?

You wouldn't turn down signing a 17/18 year old with all the physical attributes to play first-team football, along with an impressive goal-scoring record.

Maybe not, but it was obvious from as early as his Chelsea debut that he would stand out like a sore thumb (for all the wrong reason's) in a footballing team so for that reason it seemed a bit bizarre he was signed given the route we were trying to go down at the time.

I remember thinking he was a very weird signing at the time too.

AVB the scapegoat? There's been a recurring theme across each of his jobs post-Porto that his teams are incredibly dull. This is regardless of the fact that he is an average manager.

Average manager? Average manager?????
You sir deserve to feel the back of my hand, solidification style. Never heard such blasphemy
