Derbyshire are closing in on their first Championship win at the 3aaa ground, since beating Leicester in September 2014, and their first victory in the opening match of the season since seeing off Northamptonshire back in April2012, in the first match of what turned out to be their promotion season.
It’s in the nature of following Derbyshire to clutch at straws, I know… but this is looking hopeful for once. If the forecast comes true there won’t be any rain to thwart us, and batting out a day with only seven wickets to play with will be a major challenge for Middlesex.
Fingers crossed.
