Currently Bopara is flavour of the month especially, with Hussain, Cook and Gooch all connected to Essex but in his 60 ODI innings he's only got six half centuries to his name.

Bell has underperformed, we've seen that in this last series. He's got into the 'Pietersen' habit of getting out in foolish ways when in splendid form. That habit has definitely put him under pressure of a place in the team.

He deserves this tour on the back of his obvious ability.
If Bell continues to flatter to deceive, then I think we need to look elsewhere. Him and Pieterson need to shower greater consistency,

As I said, I am still not convinced by Bopara.

Incidentally, when is the squad for India named? The first warm up is on Oct. 8th so I guess they well leave a week before that date.

trott scores more runs tham bell at a better s/r and at a far better average yet you want trott dropped but bell in the side.

I accept the points about Trott.

I feel Bell will come good.

If memory serves me right you were very much for dropping Broad and look how pivotal he has become. I am not knocking your knowledge or judgement as many of us thought he could benefit back in the county championship.

i think england team should be named after the t20 series against west indies... and they should as you said hope leave for india a week before the first warmup.... seems like its going to go quick.... we only have 25 days before the action begins

You said that he will come good at the start of the summer and that this was his last chance saloon.
Well,he hasnt so how many more chances do you want to give him?

The guy has played 104 ODIs.And dont tell me he has improved in ODI record because his ODI record over the past year is worse than his overall record.
You want to drop Trott and keep Bell just because you feel Bell will come good is a very lame reason mate.Particularly since you said that this summer was his last chance saloon in ODI Cricket before the start of the summer.

I would like to give him 1 last chance. I appreciate it's a different format but he is arguably one of the worlds best batsmen in the test arena, playing some very aggressive roles.

I just see something in Bell which makes me think he just needs that one big score. I reminds me a bit of Ricky Ponting and I feel he will be a brilliant number 3 in the one day game ONCE he gets that big score.

That is merely my opinion. Yes he has played 104 one dayers, but we all accept he has been a completely different player in the last year or 2.

He oozes confidence and class and is technically our best batsman - PERIOD,

It is simply my opinion - it doesn't need justifying, I just want Bell as my 1 day number 3.

Trott - as previously stated - bizarre I accept that to leave him out. I just don't want him and Cook together and you cannot drop the captain!
