Bit tired, injuries stacking up, new formation and an opponent fighting for their lives and kicking us a lot.

Again Henderson getting pelters on certain threads. One thing about this Klopp side NONE of them feign injury. Henderson looked in a lot of pain today early doors but he stayed on because as a team we NEEDED him to. You could almost say that's captain material. He's been very good of late and when he's still captain next season, starting games and being integral to our best performances in years he'll still get slated.

I thought Gomez was poor and I've never really bought into the hype but he, like everyone else today, can and will play better than that.

Solanke/Ings were never going to be sufficient backups. Imagine if Firmino had a long term injury this year, we'd be 5th.

This has been a major concern.

Our backup in the forward positions is pretty poor tbh. If Firmino got injured we would have had big problems. Next season we need a wf and a forward I reckon. I expected the Ox to cover this position but he's adapted to playing a Cm role well after an inauspicious start.

Ings and Solanke haven't shown much at all.

Not sure it’s knee jerk at all , anyone really think Moreno Gomez and Ings are good enough replacements for Robertson Trent and mane ? Don’t think so . My point is they need to be , whilst Gomez might be with time the other 2 are not . Unless we set our standards higher we won’t progress

But make no mistake about it, we failed to win yesterday because the midfield lacked urgency and he two culprits were Henderson and Wijnaldum.

They just cannot advance the play quick enough. They also lost a lot of key battles.

I thought we failed to win as we missed easy chances. We should have been 2-0 up in the first half and went on to thrash them. Thought Henderson played well, did everything expected of him and even pushed forward in search of the goal towards the end when he had a long range shot which got an unlucky deflection for a corner. Wijnaldum should have done better with the chances he had also. Gomez was poor on the ball and normally he wouldn't have been chosen to play this type of match where you expect your full back to be on the ball a lot but TAA was needed in midfield.

Klopp made mistakes with the subs also, Gomez should have been off for Clyne and Woodburn should have been on for Ings who was ineffective as he usually is on the wing.

I like Henderson and Gini. However, they can both have the tendency to retreat into their shells when we are chasing a game. Keeping possession is very important, but yesterday there were plenty of opportunities to play the ball quickly into the feet forwards who had a yard or two of space which they spurned. Gomez is still young and will improve, but he is not really suited to playing as an attacking RB imo. It's fine playing there when we are looking to see out a game from a winning position, but he's no TAA going forward with or without the ball.

It was avery frustrating game to watch yesterday

We certainly need stronger back up, but it's dangerous to draw conclusions in yesterdays game. The players are in between 2 massive fixtures and it's understandable it effected them.

One thing I'm sure of though. Ings and Solanke are not adequate backup in the forward positions and I still think we needs a new keeper. Preferably a new #1 to battle it out with Karius. Mig should be binned.

Would have been nice to gave Lallana, Can and Mane to call upon. Klopp obviously doesn't trust Woodburn yet, maybe that will change.

Clyne at RW was an odd thing to do.

I think it was WB but because we were so dominant he spent most of his time on the wing. My criticism of Clyne has always been his ability going forward. He always gets into good positions but doesn't use the ball well enough. Klopp had to protect TAA however, that's understandable but Woodburn should have been the choice. Although you can also understand Klopp trying to get Clyne minutes to get him back up to speed.

Agree Moreno and Ings should go and poss Gomez and Solanke doesn't seem very lucky but those two are young yet and could improve. Klavan is an emergency only defender and Mignolet could be replaced with a top keeper and do the same again with Karius competing for No.1.
