It was clear to all that Arsenal needed top class replacements for Fabregas and Nasri, and also a rock at the rock. On top of this a 20 goal + striker would have helped.

I would have thought that players like Hazard, Hamsik, Cahill and Rossi would have been decent, if not ideal replacements. Clearly Wenger had other ideas:

Mertesacker, Arteta, Benayoun and Park.

Mix this with debuts handed out to 12 year olds willy nilly and it's no wonder this massive club conceded four to the mighty Blackburn.
