One question....

Everybody has an opinion on formations,players,signings...etc...the question I have before the mayhem begins Friday is....Has Rowett been a success already or did fans expect autos before the season started? I didn't expect autos...but getting to 2nd place did raise expectations. I'm going with hes done well. Hes done as well as I expected him too. In my opinion anything else now and he will become a firm Rams Legend.

Ps. Personally, always happy in and around the playoffs every season.

Great company, bit of excitement (occasionally) on the pitch. Good banter, love DCFC and going to games.

It’s been a good season for me whatever happens.
The PL would be an embarrassment should we go up.

My sentiments entirely Baz Complete agreement. Of course I always want Derby to win - but overall I'm happy with a good position in the Championship.

I'll say this and I'll say no more: I think the squad is weaker than the one he started with, older and slower, and in that regard he's taken us backward.

If we get promoted and Mel is allowed to lay more golden eggs then all well and good but if not, we're fcked.

You see this is something ive debated before. If the squad was stronger last time then how come it finished 9th? I agree probably more saleable assets but nobody that could bring in what Vydra possibly could. Vydra could easily bring in what we got for Ince and Hughes put together. Its a fair debate no doubt. If the squad is weaker and slower then Rowett has done an even better job.

Sound logic Backo.

The squad is definitely less Scottish. If that has any bearing?

Backo I think the league is weaken than last year apart from wolves. The team last season would have had a strong season this year. 3 managers in a season is always going to be an issue and with that 9th is respectable. Apparently Forest have only got 2 points more than they did last season when they stayed up on goal difference yet this season they are 12 points clear of the drop. That shows how weaker the league is this season

That's not a proven stat tho Griff that the league is weaker. I remember watching Huddersfield at our place in April and thought they were terrible but they still went up. Wolves are probably better than Newcastle or Brighton were but Cardiff are not. Reading were not that good last season but got to play off final. Swings and roundabouts but this team has finished higher with about 9 points better. Now is the team better or have Derby benefited from a full season of Gary Rowett? Some would even argue Rowett hasn't done well.

Last season was an odd one in that a team with 51 points got relegated. It doesn't prove whether the league is stronger or weaker this season than last season. I think things have generally tightened up with smaller differences between clubs. Most of the top clubs have lost to teams near the bottom. Wolves got only one point from Sunderland this season, as did we, and they also beat Fulham for example. Because margins between clubs are fairly close it means you have to be very good indeed, like Wolves, to win the majority of fixtures and go up relatively easily. There are loads of teams who are there or thereabouts and who can challenge for play offs in a good year and fade away in a not so good one. Look at how Millwall and Preston have fared and how the likes of Norwich, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday have done nothing. Even Forest could easily challenge for top six with a bit of consistency but to challenge for top two is a different kettle of fish. Last season 93 points finished second and this season 90 so we would need to improve by at least 20% on this year's tally of 75 to achieve that. That's a lot.

If Derby had the points last season they have this season they wouldn’t have reached the play offs. I think without looking we are 6 points better off this season than last. And last season Mad Mel had 4 managers over the season

I asked Roy McFarland how thought his team would get on with today’s team in a game. Roy said his team would win 1-0 or possibly draw. When I asked why he thought that he said well all of his team are in their 60’s and 70’s now
