So, it appears we are in the hunt for at least one striker, potentials listed by the Post and other social media outlets include
Jordan Rhodes
Jack Marriott
Lewis Grabban
El Arbi Hillel Soudani
Abel Hernandez
Patrick Bamford
Nixon seems to think Lewis Grabban is first choice, but he will have options and will probably get more money elsewhere
Bamford would be my choice, based on him being a good age but with experience of scoring in this league plus history with the club
I don’t know enough about Marriot or Soudani to comment, both have nice records but in different leagues.
Rhodes and Hernández are unlikely as I would expect both to get better offers from other clubs, unless we break the bank, which I hope we don’t on two players that didn’t exactly tear it up this year!

There are probably all sorts of factors that would affect the availability of players on the list.
What is more encouraging is the they all look a better level than Vellios or Veldwijks of this world 👍

There are pros and cons for all these candidates. I would like to see Lewis Grabban at the City Ground, but he is 30 now so probably past his best but he could still score a few goals at Championship level. Marriott sounds promising and is probably on his way up, or League 1 could be his level. Rhodes well past his best.
I think the key next season will be to rotate the strikers wisely. I don't think we should be asking strikers to play three games in eight days for example. Leave them out occasionally - keep them fresh, keep them hungry.
Hopefully we will have two new strikers in by the time the season kicks off and we won't be paying over the odds for them

Leave Rhodes well alone. He would be another mercenary like that chump Forest loaned from Villa the other year, McCormack. They know they aren’t good enough for the Prem but see plenty of willing suitors in the Championship who’ll pay them a king’s ransom.
Rhodes has done little at Wednesday to fight off the notion that his star is waning.

Peterborough want top whack for Marriot. Not seen enough of him but I like the idea of looking for someone who is keen to prove themselves. There is off course the chance that he could be another Veldwijk/Cummings who just can’t quite cut it, though.

Peterborough do seem to have the knack of picking out the really talented forwards and developing them.

Grabban has had a great season with 20 goals. I am sure he will have ambitions of either giving it a real good go back at Bournemouth or chancing his arm at another lower Prem club/recently relegated such as Stoke. He would cost quite a bit and I’m sure there would be a few armed with parachute payments who could blow a Forest bid out of the water.

Bamford would be my choice. He would probably welcome the move home as he has performed well at Boro but still isn’t considered their number one striker. Regardless of whether they win the play offs or not, I think Karanka should test their resolve with a bid.

We need to sign the Peterborough striker scouts

Yes, they definitely have the eye for it. Surprised no one in the region has tried to tempt them away.

Cheeky bid for Vydra?...
