Jardim.......

The more I think about it, the more I’m letting the romance of it all (potentially clouding my judgement) get my hopes up that this could/would be the long term ideal appointment for my football club.

Some have said (TP/Devil’sAdvocate) he’d be our Pochettino style appointment. He’s got a reputation for giving younger players a run in his teams and improving them.

I’d say the fact he finished one season (whilst doing all that) above PSG and getting to the latter stages of the Champions League would really appeal to me.

The patterns at his previous clubs aren’t the same as at United, though. That’s kind of the point. History isn’t really influencing anything.

Possibly, bloodred, depends what happens in the market. The only real Mourinho meltdown was the second stint at Chelsea. At Madrid and Chelsea they finished second in his third season, and there wasn’t a meltdown with Chelsea.

We won’t win the league as the squad isn’t good enough and neither is Mourinho to compete with Pep’s City. But I’m not convinced about the third season thing based on what we’ve seen with United. It doesn’t follow the same pattern as the starting points have been completely different.

He had one at Real too. Lost all of the dressing room's key players/the entire Spanish media in season three.

A new contract usually triggers it and you gave him one earlier this year. Brace yourselves

Yeah but it wasn’t a meltdown like at Chelsea. Lost the players but they improved after their slump and went on a good run in the league and reached the semis of the CL.

But this all came after his team became champions. So it’s not really the same pattern is it?

It may happen, but none of his time at United has followed his previous trajectory so it’s not something I’m particularly taking much notice of.

Mourinho’s cv at United won’t resemble any of his previous clubs by the time he’s done. A lack of league title will be on that cv I suspect, though.

We'll see I guess. How he'll adjust without Rui Faria will be interesting.

I think it’ll be similar to this season but with some improved results. Hopefully he’ll be gone at the end of the season.

Yeah will be interesting to see what happens without his seeeeex slave. Carrick is going to be his assistant.

Good that he's going back to having a club favorite as his assistant, it's always how I've associated him at his best.

I figured in 2013 since he was the Chelsea legend he felt he didn't need one. But promoting his gimp at United suggests otherwise of course

Faria has worked with Mourinho since 2001. We’ll see whether Carrick just takes up his role as assistant or if someone else is brought into the coaching team.

He was coach up until United to which he became the assistant manager, basically the roles Holland, Karanka and Clarke had for Mou at his previous job.

Im guessing Louro is now in Faria's old role pre United.

Yeah he’s first team coach. I do wonder if a shake up of his backroom staff is something that Mourinho needs. Fergie used to change his staff and it helped him change things up a bit. Problem with Mourinho is that he’s so pig headed and is more involved in the training than Fergie was that it probably wouldn’t make much difference anyway.

It was only up until he rejoined us where he gave Faria significant first team responsibility, prior to that he was a fitness guy.

I've always associated Mourinho with guys like Clarke, Baresi & Karanka as his no.2. Having that personal connection to the club in his process. I don't think it's a surprise that since he abandoned that (and promoted Faria) he's lost that sense of being in touch.
