They are pretty pivotal to our summer for a number of reasons.
Wages
Ramsey is on about £5.75m a year. He would want a significant rise to sign a new contract.
Wilshere is on about £4.6m. He is unlikely to get much of a rise.
Selling both would free up £10m in wages - about £190k a week.
Transfer Fees
Wilshere will bring nothing in, but Ramsey could possibly bring in £35m - £50m if we are lucky.
Squad
Midfield is a shallow area of the squad. Xhaka and Elneny would be the only senior players, with Maitland-Niles and WIllock cover. Even in keeping both we arguably need one more minimum. Losing both would mean we would likely only bring in 2 - leaving us short.
Homegrown
We have 13 senior players who are homegrown in PL terms. This, however, includes 3 'keepers, Jenkinson, Bramall and Akpom who will all surely find themselves leaving.
The other 5 are Bellerin, Chambers, Holding, Iwobi and Welbeck - all players also linked with moves away.
It would leave us in a weak position if both Wilshere and Ramsey left, although a squad of 22 is not unworkable.
HG players like Butland, Evans and Zaha have been mentioned as potential signings.
All in all, it seems as if getting Wilshere to sign on without a pay rise would be best.
Selling Ramsey may be a necessity. Increasing his wages would have a negative effect on who we can sign, and keeping him on for a season doesn't seem the best idea. If we can get a decent fee for him it may be the only way forward.

Keeping Ramsey would probably mean doubling his wages though. Would have a massive impact on who we can sign in terms of a GK, DCM and 2 CBs, even with new deals.

I cant wait for ramsey to go to another club and be benched after a few games. biggest fraud in the game at the moment. (well, after Ozil anyway)

Couldn't agree more. I don't get what people that rate him see in him.
Any championship footballer can abandoned his midfield role, bomb endlessly into the box and get the odd goal.
His passing technique is awful and he is clueless when it comes to forming a picture of what is around him.
