If my Barça, relatively poor compared to Real and the English clubs, pay a ridiculous fee for Coutinho, Hazard has to be approaching 200 million. He may be older, but neither Coutinho nor Dembele will ever reach his level. He has at least 5 more top years left in him - maybe 7 in our league.

How many years did Couts have left on his contract??

so who are we to believe then who are the experts. fans on ja606 or the people involved in the clubs themselves

None. The market, which will say Hazard is a lot cheaper than Chelsea fans think he is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not just Chelsea fans, also Chelsea football club. I think that 2 more seasons of Hazard is worth more to the club than anyone else will pay.

Hazard is near as a guarantee to a league title as anybody other than ronaldo and messi. best player in the league over the last 5 years, and that's with one injury riddled season thrown in too.
That alone would be worth £200 million for me. Let's hope we tie him down to a new contract. If not, let it run.

This
The last two summer windows would've been the time to cash in if the player was interested in a move. With two years left on the deal and without the CL revenue next season we'd gain nothing by selling him now. It's all about timing, right now his market value doesn't match his value to our us.
If he still hasn't signed by this time next year and we're back in the CL, then a discussion can be had. He'll still be worth 50-60mil which'll cover at least half the cost of his replacement with a wider pool of targets to choose from with CL football.

1. Salah isn't a midfielder. He's Liverpool’s most advanced player, in other words a forward.
2. The comparison was used to highlight the stupidity of the stats argument.
3. The Liverpool team is setup in a way which gets the best out of Salah. Firmino dropping deep, allowing Salah to take up central striker role.
4. For Hazard it's the other way round, he gets the best out of Chelsea. Like against Liverpool where he was MOTM and the difference maker.
5. Salah deserves his POTY award. He's had one better year than Hazard.
----------------------------------------------------
Hazard the difference maker, in a handful of games. Salah has been the difference maker in 30+ games for Liverpool this season and has had a bigger impact than Hazard. Not exactly like either are suffering from a lack of quality around them either.
Obviously, I wouldn't purely base someone's value off their stats. If Hazard has a 5 year contract at Chelsea and Salah has 1 year left for example, that's obviously going to have an impact. But, like any other side, you pay more money for those who put the ball in the back of the net. But who the fack uses stats nowadays, mean nothing do they. Based off this season alone, Salah is worth considerably more than Hazard imo.

1. If goal scorers were the only players going for big money that would not account for the big transfers in recent years like Pogba, Coutinho, Dembele, Di Maria who were not prolific goal scorers.
2. if you only evaluate goals then Salah could be seen as the difference maker, but Hazard offers a lot more than Salah further down the pitch. Hazard really plays a role somewhere between David Silva and Salah, he contributes to scoring goals, but he is arguably more important in starting attacks.
Btw I do agree Salah would be worth more than Hazard right now. However, thats much more to do with their overall form this season, and their current situation with the contracts. Personally, I'm tired of seeing the same tired argument of "Hazard doesn't decide games" or "Hazard doesn't score enough"; hes a unique player, just as players like Zidane, Ronaldinho or Zola were unique.

Did I just read that correctly? hazard has been playing with crap all season(bar kante).
Completely different scenarios. Has got over 30 goals and assists in 42 games this year on his own and he isn't even a player you judge on stats. (like zidane, ronaldinho, xavi, iniesta, silva)
