It looks like his time’s up at SB. It’s the end of Conte’s era, fair to say that his short lived tenure was a successful one, winning two major trophies in two years in the process. Football at times was great, especially last season when he won us the league. However this season has been a drag and at times painful to watch. Personally I couldn’t wait for the season to end. Though as much I liked us winning the fa cup, the football played in that game was an eye bleeding one.
Sarri seems to be the likely candidate to replace Conte. The board have set their eyes on appointing an attacking coach this time (about bloody time), hence Sarri and Luis Enrique were favourites to take over.
Luiz Enrique was club’s first choice. He is considered as the safest option, due to his track record at Barca, but after learning about his extraordinary wages demands of £10m, the club decided to look elsewhere instead. Appointing Sarri is seen as a gamble, because he has not won a major trophy yet (league title, CL or Europa league), that’s not to say he can’t in the future, given the resources at his disposal at Chelsea, he could build smth special. I watch a fair bit of Sera A and his team (Napoli) played by far the best attacking football. Actually I thought they were unlucky not to win the scudetto, finishing the season as runners up on 91 points, only four points behind Juve. Sarri is a bit of maverick, outspoken and sometimes contraversial, but very much loved by the fans.
Meanwhile, the board are working on finding a solution in order to minimise the costs of compensation in regard to Conte’s and his coaching staff inevitable departure. At the moment, It looks as though terminating Conte’s and his coaching staff contacts a year early, could cost Chelsea up to €20m. Let’s hope this won’t drag on for ages.
Personally, I am not keen on appointing Luis Enrique. Though Sarri is a gamble, I certainly think it’s a risk worth taking.
Exciting time ahead folks.....

In terms of trophies, the comparison with Pochettino seems fair. However his side plays a much more expansive style, very much like Pep’s style.

Never quite got why Spurs are always mentioned as an example of great football, they were much more better "on the eye" under Harry.
It's brutally effective what Poch is building ill give them that, but when they are not playing well they can be an absolute eye sore (that Levekusen game last year at Wembley makes even our most boring game this season look like Liverpool vs City )

Chelsea have traditionally played a very expensive style. On average approx £200m.

It’s only a myth m8. You seem to have forgotten that they have been overtaken by the likes of Man City and Utd in the last decade.

Actually Man City play expansive and expensive footy, whereas Man Utd only know one way the boring expensive way m8

Good article
I'm excited. Definitely a gamble that could blow up in our faces if we're not smart about it, but with a bit of patience and sufficient backing from Roman and co, this could work out very well indeed.
The more I read about him as a character as well the more I like him. Seems like the kind of dude who'd light up a cig on the touchline without caring about fines, do love me a rebel

Conte - still an excellent manager but not what we need..and still some elements of his style that holds him back

I feel sad despite his blunders this season to see him go and leave Chelsea on a sour note.

What would have happened if Chelsea had Jurgen Klopp as Chelsea manager with the current squad?Would we have reached UEFA Champions League final this season and how would we have fared in Premiership in last two seasons is another intriguing but interesting question.

Tradition is a word that conjures up memories of times long gone and kept going in the modern era. It doesn't seem to go back too far in your short memory though.
I remember when we were forking out peanuts for the likes of Gordon Davies, Phil Driver and Joe Allon!
WUM fail!!!!
