All the talk is about pressure on the ball out of possession but can it been sustained?
Guillet once said if your forwards are running around all game they cannot convert when they are given a chance.
Liverpool looked shot at the end of the game and at times seemed to be headless chickens.
So question is does pressing work or is it more subtle than that?
Pressing for 90mins...don't think so

Well it's worked all season for Liverpool up until Bale's first goal.
Barca dominated the world with pressing game.
But you have to have the quality on the ball to compensate for it. Otherwise its pointless

Not going to work every game but if u score 2/3 goals in the first half you normally win the game 90% of the time.
Real were clearly the superior team after 25 mins.

It works when you have Xavi and Iniesta, which means you aren’t actually pressing for 90 mins; you’re pressing for about 20.
If you’ve got Milner and Henderson then you’re doomed unless you have one exceptional player carrying the whole team.
If that player picks up and injury though...

Liverpool die after say 60-70mins.
If you remember Barcelona even they, who keep the ball so well after winning it back quickly, used to tire at 80mins when we played them.
I think if you look after the ball well then sure press away, if not use it sparingly.

Only works if your bench is strong, Liverpool’s first 11 isn’t that strong , so no with Liverpool it doesn’t work

The pressing works. Look how many trophies spurs and Liverpool have won compared to Chelsea United and arsenal in the last few years

Pressing works great when you have ridiculous possession stats. It's easy to press effectively all game long when you have the ball 75 percent of the game.
IMO the biggest single reason for our fall out of the top four has been Ozil's arrival making a pressing defence impossible to effectively execute. We were great at it. It was how we stayed in the top 4 for so with weak DMs. Ozil was an immediate weak link in the chain and with him came the collapse of the only defensive thing the team had be really good at for years.
