Emerys objectives

So what do we feel is his objectives come the end of the season?

I think it's unlikely to mount a title challenge, so:
Top 4 or winning Europa
Defensive improvement
Splaying a stronger pressing game

FA Cup / league cup as bonus

Top 4 and or Europa League win. Anything that looks a decent improvement from the last 2 years in the league will be a success in my view. Don’t mind finishing 5th, as long as we our defence doesn’t look like a total joke, and we avoid our regular embarrassing hammerings. Need some promising signs that we’re heading in the right direction at least

Europa league win
Improve on 6th
Strong runs in the domestic cups
Assessing whether certain players were poorly managed or just poor, Bellerin for example.

Remember the days when we had Arshavin, Nasri and Fabregas in midfield and we weren't sure if it was enough to get to top 4.

Most important is to give the manager the right time and environment to work in. Excessive expectations could be very counterproductive at this juncture. Just ask United.

Personally, I'd target one of the cups. That would get the Emery tenure off to a flying start.

League Cup ideally, as it finishes early in the season and could give that little bit of extra breathing space if the league campaign wasn't going too well.

League ambitions depend on the squad you've put together by the start of the season, and on how your rivals have strengthened. To aim for a CL place before knowing that is setting yourselves up for disappointment.

I'd also bear in mind the league campaign could well get off to a stuttering start due to the change of manager and approach for players who've spent a long time under a single manager.

Europa League should be taken seriously too, but wouldn't establish expectations for it until you know who drops out of the CL. Any of the big guns, especiallly those changing manager, could get off to a stinking start under and drop into the EL. Even the initial line-up of EL sides is stronger, in the sense that almost all of them nowadays see in it an opportunity to make the CL. You could Chelsea are thriving under their new boss, as well as other strong challengers from the other big leagues from Sevilla, or Leipzig, or Marseille.

EL entirely depends on the team that drops from CL tho you can expect Emery’s team to perform better than be a pushover.

If Ath Madrid was not in this season it was likely Wenger would have won it.

Having the World Cup isn’t ideal for his preparations, doesn’t get quite as long to get to know all the players closely, and Ozil will probably insist on having annual leave until about February. So won’t be surprised if we don’t start too well. But it could be worse, as we don’t have quite as many players at World Cup as previous years. I’m hoping he gets his key signings done early as well. One of the annoying things under the wenger years was we never had our compelete squad ready until after deadline at least, by that point we’d already dropped points. I know deadline is before season starts this time, but I’d like the key signings all done for when the whole squad return to training. He needs as much time as he can get with them before the season starts

We should be happy with minor improvements this year. Can’t get on his back early. We’ve been regressing badly, so anything that starts to indicate we’re going in the right direction should be seen as a decent year. Then we can adjust expectations after that

TBH we were very unlucky in the Europa League, i mean how the fack did Madrid somehow mess up the group stages of the CL and finish third. I'm 100% sure we would have won if Atletico didnt drop down.

Look at the quality of teams that United faced when they won it, we would have won the EL with ease if similar teams were in it.

Champions League qualification. After that a cup would be nice.
