No Wembley

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/5/31/stadium-plans-on-hold?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral

Stadium was never gonna happen.

TV revenue dwarfs stadium rev anyway.

No Wembley commute unless we are winning trophies.

Can we not just knock down Bates motel and Shed End and make Shed End a single tier 12k stand.

Then we have 48k capacity

Abramovic not being granted a visa and suddenly Chelsea hold off on £1bn investment into the area.

Inextricably linked to get local government to put pressure on the home office.

Stadium Revenue and fans through the turnstiles are still pretty important. Otherwise why would any club ever bother with new builds or expansion of existing stadiums.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, but commercial development more important.

Arsenal got it wrong thinking their stadium would secure them revenue they needed, then while they were paying off their loan while Bayern United even Chelsea developed a stronger brand than them.

It is only recently Arsenal have caught even Chelsea on a commercial level but hey missed the boat capitalising on their Invincibles, side tracked by their stadium.

Only now have Arsenal overtaken Chelsea in terms of revenue. If course, a big stadium helps, but commercial revenue is even more important and easier to build than an expenseive new ground

You could leave SB as it is and just give your gates as 60k. As is shown with Arsenal and West Ham the powers that be don't seem to mind how much a team falsifies its attendances.

The statement released by Chelsea was pretty blunt too. Very little explanation given. Like it was an angry response. Usually there's more to come when a little brief statement like that is released.

Mr C, nothing to break a sweat about here mate. I was more worried when we were languishing in Div 2 looking proper shii iit. The fact is that we are now a large brand in world Football and if Abramovich has lost his appetite (which I don't believe personally) then he will just sell to sometime who if he is minted enough to buy it, then he is minted enough to run it. The thing to remember is that we are still gaining major silverware while a lot of these mugs are just pining for it.

True Summer. I don't believe he's lost his appetite either. Just a little game being played here.

I'm just intrigued by it all to be honest. Like others have said. It seems to be a bit of a dummy being thrown out the pram situation here. Be interesting to see who moves next and what they do.

Trust me, these teething problems are minor compared to the problems that we have faced and overcome in the past, I'm not even mildly perspiring over this.
