Sarri has fallen well wide from being odds on, only a few days ago. Seems the bookies have it nailed on that it will be one of Blanc, Enrique, Jokanovic or Sarri. Jesus, does anyone feel as depressed about that as I do?
How has Blanc ended up being favourite? Honestly, it just amazes me. I’m watching Frank Lampard go to Derby, and most likely from what I’m hearing, take Jody Morris with him as his number 2. Not that it would ever have happened, but I swear to you, I’d rather them two given a go over Blanc, Enrique or Jokanovic. Probably would have been career suicide for them, but what if it didn’t? What if we had stumbled upon our Guardiola and Villanova?
Blanc - Won Ligue 1 with Boudreaux, fair play. Then underachieved with France. Then basically won everything domestically with PSG for 3 years, which I’d give about as much relevance to, as the queen would to my sexual health.
Enrique - Given probably the greatest front 3 the world has ever seen at Barcelona. On top of an already fantastic squad, and won the treble. Prior to that turned Celta Vigo into mid tablers, and had a mare at Roma, finishing lower than any Roma manager since the Juve scandal.
Jokanovic - Played great football and got excellent results, from Christmas onwards this season with Fulham. Got Watford up before. And sort of saved Fulham when he first went there 3 years ago. He’s put a very good side together there in the Championship. But right now in time, not for me.
And then there’s Sarri - Still a slither of hope according to the bookies/media. I just don’t get why it’s taken till now to get put off by the homophobic comments. With been linked with him for donkeys. Where’s our due diligence? I also don’t get the unwillingness to pay the buy out. £8m buy out, plus 3 year deal at £4m a year (only on £2m at Napoli) is £20m overall. Enrique on a 3 year deal at the £8m a year he wants is £24m. There’s more to this than the media think. Having watched Napoli last year. He’d be the one that would make me most confident. And on that note...Welcome Rodgers.
Current odds for the next boss...

I was licking my lips with Sarri - I smelt a Big Phil there. Phil Windsor
I would be delighted if you got Enrique too, who seems overrated for his overall record, not just Barca.
Blanc is an unknown quantity really.
Jokanovic is the one I would worry about as an outsider. He has done a good job at Watford and Fulham, and is a Chelsea man. It may just be a masterstroke.

I wouldn't say he was a 'Chelsea Man'. He spent no more than a couple of seasons with is and it would be kind to him to say he was average for us!

I wanted Sarri but Blanc would also play an attacking/possession based 433 system.
It'll most likely get the best out of Hazard I'm just hoping we get some good players in to boost our quality... Seri or Nice would be a start.

With Gerrard going to Rangers, Lampard to to Derby, should Chelsea be looking to secure Rooney? Arguably the best out of the 3 managers and could create a dynasty at Chelsea.

The problem with Blanc someone else mentioned in an article a few days ago, his teams all feel like that lack substance. Even at Bordeaux, by in large they were a one man show the year they won the title - once Gourcuff's form disappeared so did Bordeaux's capability to be any sort of threat in Ligue 1.
He's a paper manager made to look better by circumstance. His achievements with Bordeaux were glorified by the fact it broke Lyon's dominance over the league, but Lille & Montpellier won it the following two years so the league was open. And when he was manager of PSG it truly was a one team league, since he left Monaco, Marseille & Lyon have gotten much stronger. Can only be judged on his CL record during that spell, which wasn't great.
If we had a good squad at the moment it wouldn't be that big a deal, but we need a proper manager right now whose willing to challenge the board without overstepping his bounds. That is NOT Laurent Blanc.
