Pickfords ability with the ball at his feet makes him our number one. Excellent distribution, doesn't panic, and like Ederson he can get incredible distance on the ball also.

England won't win it, so why not bed in what could be our number 1 for the next decade

He should be second choice after Pope but then Pope hasn't even had a game for England yet. I hope that changes in our next friendly. If he doesn't play then Southgate's an idiot.

Dunno why Gary Cahill being shįte on the ball has anything to do with me saying having Pickford, a goalie who’s good on the ball, will still help England overall in playing out the back. Pickford started the move off for Lingard’s goal against Italy in March.

Goalkeeper is the most difficult position on the pitch for fans to judge - let's be honest, how many of us have a clue about goalkeeping technique?

My view is that it is a position where we need to look long term and not pick on form as much, as the relationship between centre halves and the keeper are very important.

Pickford seems a reasonable choice for the timebeing, for sure.
