Crowd Trouble the beautiful Game vs Sports
A lot has been reported on the potential trouble at the world cup in Russia, we’ve had reporters over in Russia talking to the gangs.. “if they start with us, we’ll do this, that and the other"
There appears to be a lot of tension in the air, how much is the media making a mountain out of a mole hill? – what occurs to me often when reports of this nature goes out, is why does only football seem to have this level of violence from its supporters? – actually organised violence against other teams supporters?
I’m not saying that trouble never happens in other sports, it does occasionally, but why is that football has more than its fair share? – of course, it’s a minority, the majority of football fans are simply there for the football.
We call football ‘the beautiful game’ right? – you look at Rugby League, brutal, violent, but the supporters can and do sit together in the stands. Boxing, a fighting sport, again, no level of trouble compared to football. Tennis, snooker, cricket – all well supported sports, any trouble to report?
Why is it football that has organised crowd trouble? – it’s a question for the physiologists amongst us

Henry, totally agree with that, but that was kind of my point about why football "fans" have a scrap at the football... many just normal folk, go to work, pick up the kids from school etc etc... all of a sudden when at a football match the devil comes out... but when the go to the rugby, they bahave... its madness.
again, I must stress its a minority that do this... but its baffling to say the least.

"when at a football match the devil comes out... but when the go to the rugby, they bahave..."
Some of the other comments in this thread suggest that isn't quite accurate anymore. There are punch-ups at all sorts of events - tbh, there probably always have been, but the press liked the story of football being full of thugs and in the 70s/80s they probably had a point.

I think in the past you'll find people that have been done for football offences including violence include Lawyers, Police, Ambulance Drivers, Doctors, Firemen, Butchers, and the Armed Forces!..
Out of that lot you might expect the Armed Forces but the rest?..
It doesn't matter who the person is, in everyday life they could be the best baby sitter going, but at football matches a complete stranger seems to appear!..

Henry, I guess I can only talk from my experiences...
At the football say, I'd feel nervous walking with my young son through a crowd of opposition football fans.. however on many occasions my young son and I have been chatting with the opposition Rugby fans on the way back to the car.
also there is always such a heavy police presence, where as at other sports, not so much.

this is what I mean Germany... I can't figure it out... its not like its a violent sport, its almost none-contact now... Rugby is possibly the most violent sport there is... but yet the fans behave, barring the odd very isolated incident.

Yet, millions of other people manage to attend football matches and drink beer, and still manage to not get into a fight.
Just because someone has a decent job, doesn't necessarily make them a decent person. Dr Shipman was a doctor.

I do think it's as said earlier, footall is almost considered an acceptable arena for "men" to engage in fisticuffs. We've largely accepted it, so it attracts these people - it's almost a self fulfilling stereotype as these people will exist with or without football.

Henry, all I'm saying is that most are great people when you know them, your mates?......but when they go to football it brings the other side of them out!..
A lot of these people wouldn't do anything at home or in town what they do at football!..
Dr Shipman being a Doctor, I wonder what these people would like to do with the likes of him?......there are people in the medical profession that would love to do an OP on him!..

There isn't much trouble at football anymore, most of the football violence is pre arranged & away from the ground.
And i don't agree with someone suddenly changing into a wild animal at football & behaving perfectly resonable any where else, that's just nonsense.
If you go looking for trouble then you are a trouble causer, regardless of where you are, and these people will undoubtedly be involved in violence elsewhere. They need to be dealt with severely by the authorities.

Cayton, ever heard the one about the loving Mother/Father, in the house all loving caring people with their little kids, but those same people jump in their cars and use them as deadly weapons?..
Most of these head cases at football matches at home are the same as those that jump in the car!..
A lot of cases people around them don't know much about their other side, it seems they're only like that when they come together with the right people, and that I'd think is around people that use football for their fun!..
A lot of this is a fun thing taking them on the ride they like!..
The list of jobs that I put up there, believe it or not but that is a true statement, and I'd think all of them are people that are supposed to be respectable people in their private lives!..
Until they're caught they're no different to any other living being!..
