Loftus cheek has been our best mid.

I'd start him ahead of Alli. Doesn't give the ball away as much and has better close control.

Alli is a strange one, his stats are amazing but every time I watch him play I'm underwhelmed.

it's all about what he does off the ball. Unreal understanding of space

Rashford and Welbeck.

England played quite well. Nothing amazing.

Jagielka and Livermore

Lampard and Gerrard?

Solid performance, decent win. Thought Henderson did OK and obviously Rashford as well. Some good moments from Loftus-Cheek - hope he gets some action in the tournament.

We can complain and say it was uninspiring, or we can accept that it's a week before the tournament; there were wholesale changes to the the likely favoured XI; Costa Rica are no mugs themselves (remember 2014?); and even if we'd won 5-0 playing scintillating football it still wouldn't necessarily have meant anything going into the group games.
