With 10 city players going to the World Cup how successful do you want them, as individuals, to be?
On the one hand I’d like them all to do well and represent Leicester in a good light on the other....
Maybe I’m a pessimist but I worry that if players like Schmeichel, Maguire, Vardy and Ndidi have a good tournament there will be many suitors hovering like vultures. Benny, not so much!
Maybe I’m slightly less worried than a few years back when there were far more teams that would be seen as a step up, but to lose any two from the above would be a major blow.
Of course I want Vardy and Maguire to play their part in a good England showing, but then again....
Thoughts?

Rashford was only thinking about his World Cup, nobody elses. That's why Vardy suffered a bit last night too

Can't be at all bitter about Rashford's performance last night, even if it is potentially at Vardy's expense. I thought it came across as a message to Mourinho as much as to Gareth Southgate. It's rare to see Rashford look so free and full of flair.
I didn't think Vardy was poor as such last night, but I do think he showed a big reason why there hasn't been so much interest in him from the league's big clubs. He was still a useful contributor but didn't stand out in a possession style as said, at least not in the way that Kane and Rashford can. He's unfortunate that he's got tough competition for his place because he still has strong attributes that England can use and has proven himself a very handy finisher over recent seasons. But that's the way of things.
I'd still rather have him leading the line if Kane picked up an injury, but it's difficult to see him playing alongside Kane when Sterling and Rashford show more flair and ability in the build up.

Vardy suffered in part because he offers nothing else to England other than running behind the last defender. It works exceptionally well for Leicester but he has to be more adaptable for England
Last night it was highlighted that there were acres of space behind him with the midfielder looking for a pass. Rather than come into that space and help link up the play (as Kane does) Vardy is on the run looking to get ahead of the defensive line. This would have resulted in an impossible cross trying to pick out 1 striker in amongst 4 defenders
Vardy is exceptional for Leicester but he has to show he can do more than one thing when playing at international level

We wouldn’t have got the second goal if Vardy was on the pitch, no way would Alli have set him up.
That’s what Vardy has to get over to be integral to the team out there, doubt he’ll get the chance though, shame for him for good for Leicester fans or who ever he plays fro next Season.?

Back to the OP, I honestly don’t think anyone will come in for our players except Maguire, who I think people are overrating at the minute due to his ability on the ball.
When he and stones conspire to mess up and put us out the tournament, maybe that interest will cool from the top teams until he develops a bit more.
Realistically, I can’t see anyone coming in for anyone else?

Mersey - Costa Rica got in behind him 3 or 4 times yesterday night. It was the only time they looked in any way dangerous.

Agree on Maguire. The pundits are bumming him at the minute and the guy is still a kid.

Hope Shinji does well for Japan , he might get back in to Puels plans next season.
Hope Benny does well .............. after Tunisias first game
Hope Silva and in particular Pereira do well for Portugal
( cant see anybody coming in for them )
Hope Nigeria do well although I fear Wilf could be on his way if they do, cant see anybody coming in for Ian and I'd particularly love it if the Moose (Musa) has a storming world cup.
Hope Kasper does well and keeps plenty of clean sheets for Denmark ( if only to see Nevs reaction )
All of the above only applies till, or if, they play England in the later stages ( wishful thinking, then I woke up !)
And of course I hope Vardy and Harry Mac do well for England. Sadly I'm in agreement with other posters on here, don't think Vardy will get much game time in front of Rashford and Sterling, assuming Captain Kane is a shoe in.
Harry Mcguire might well get a regular place, which could steer Claude in to playing 3 at the back ( God I'm getting carried away now )
Gives us something to look forward to in the World Cup, other than whinging about England. 10 Leicester players, potentially , in it. I rememeber the days (think it was 86) when it was John Oneill and Paul Ramsey, Lineker was playing for Everton then.
and yes Nev I remember when Leicester had a world cup winner ( your mentor Banks of England).
UTF and up England

The problem vardy has playing for England,
Last night he did several runs to pull defenders 3 most of the time, but no ali or Kane to take advantage,
And even when its the full squad
Only lanarna (sp) has the intelligence and passing ability to see what vardys doing
Most of the midfielders are looking for the wingers or want to one two it all the time,
We may just scrape out the group stage
Home before the 1/4 finals

Vardy needs to develop more than one dimension to his game though if he wants to be a top international striker - which sadly he isn’t. Brilliant for us, great for the prem, but he has one way of playing and if the team don’t play that way then he’s screwed basically. That’s why he’s a bench warmer for England.
