Alan Hutton, the Scottish Cafu, has signed a 1 year deal!!! Amazing; didn't expect that. Thought with the claimed financial problems we'd be letting go anybody who's out of contract.
Two things. One is, it seems to me the underlying finances are nothing like as tight as claimed. I'm sure there will be cuts, much needed, but the squad as a whole was much too big. But nothing desperate. Maybe cash-flow is indeed the only significant issue. Let's hope so, and that the cash-flow can be solved.
Other thing is, if we hadn't signed him we'd have had a big hole in our defence. He has experience, is totally committed, played a big part last season and to have him for another is a big deal.
Hope this is the first of many bits of good news.

P.S. Wonder what Chronic thinks this.

Probably because he's taken a pay cut

How's Hutton doing?

I remembers Hutton making his début for Mallorca years ago, and the Spanish radio commentator saying "I can't believe this bloke's a footballer!"

He’s gotta be about 40 yes ?

Nope, a young 33
He's actually just had his best season for us. Switching from RB to LB has made a big difference.

I'm tending to the optimistic view of our state.
But ... the absolute silence is baffling. The little we have heard is OK; Hutton staying, Organ apparently telling the board that the club's internal finances are in a decent state. The critical thing seems to be cash flow, and the silence on that is worrying.
