Thought Sterling was very poor last night.Yes i may be biased, but at this level Vardy i think offers more.
Sterling as shown lately is not the most intelligent of players,at this level his legs are quicker than his brain and i believe Vardy offers more and is a better finisher.
Would still like to see Vardy alongside Kane, but dont think this will happen.
Sadly unless Southgate is saving Vardy to bring on as sub in the knockout stages then i dont think we will see much of him.
Mcguire was steady but caught out a couple of times, hew will only improve.
Not impressed with the ref inevitably ,inconsistant and far too lenient.
Shows that if that is best Fifa can offer, than our absent premier refs must be even worse than we thought.
Sterling over Vardy ??

I'm aware of that, I agreed above that it wasn't the right game to bring him on, I was disagreeing that Tunisia played a high line apart from on set pieces.

I really like Maguire though, by no means the finished article but so much potential.
Grace on the ball, despite looking like a geezer who should be putting rigging together

Yup, perfect attributes to be a top modern CB.

He’s a good lad, and refreshing to hear in interview. Perhaps I’m just a bit disappointed he hasn’t flourished in every sense by now. He does have age on his side though, but as you mention, is lugging a huge frame around everywhere.

Got into top level football late..potential to be a late bloomer

If Maguire can learn how to defend and when not to commit, he’ll be at Man City in 2 years.
If not, he’ll be at Middlesborough in 5.
Over to you Harry.

Good win in the end. We struggled to break Tunisia down once they scored. But we stuck at it and Harry came up with a late winner, from Harry Macs flick on.
I just think Vardy would have scored one of those missed chances, but then again Rashford or Welbeck probably would too.
As for the refs in general at the World Cup they have been pretty good. Just Englands luck to get the most inconsistent one. However, no English Refs, what does that say about the standard of Premiership Refs ? Old Mother Riley discuss. Actually there is an English ( Leicester) born ref , provided by the Austrailian FA !
How things are going , if we get out of the group we could be facing Japan or Senegal in the last 16

legless - Just remember that Jon Moss and Bobby Madley consistently get given big matches. And Anthony Taylor, one of the most easily influenced refs I've ever seen. And Martin Atkinson, the refereeing version of Phillip Hammond. I'd rather the country wasn't embarrassed by a performance from one of them.

I did wonder what a mess Jon Moss would have made of the World Cup
Thought Michael Oliver might have mafe it though

Oliver's the only one I'd be comfortable to see go to a major tournament. But he does have time on his side for future tournaments.
