The old adage is true - you wait all day for a new goalie and then two come along at once.
Yes ladies and gents, this DUFC News article has a 'handy' feel about it today (and not just because I'm often left to use my hands myself) and that's because Dundee United have signed TWO goalkeepers.
Welcome to the club Matej Rakovan and Benjamin Siegrist.
Rakovan is a 6'5 Slovenian who has signed from a Czech side that none of you will ever have heard of and nor have I, and it looks hard to spell so I'll not bother. The 28 year old previously had a spell at Slavia Prague but played 24 games for his weird named team last season.
Siegrist is another 6'5 keeper of Swiss origin, and has played at all youth levels for his country, winning a golden glove award at u17 level after his nations world cup win. The 26 year old was at Vaduz before joining United, but previously played for a number of clubs in England.
No idea which of the two will be first choice. Both have been given 2 year deals, which is odd given that we also have Deniz at the club.
Away from goalkeepers, we've also signed a defender who is known to Scottish football, former Partick Thistle defender Frederic Frans. The 6'4 defender signs from Lierse where he was a regular.
We've also made a backroom addition, signing coach Werner Burger as first team coach. The German has previously worked with Laszlo at a number of clubs. Craig Easton and Scott Robertson are working with the youths.
More signings are expected, with United supposedly looking at T Watt and, perhaps less believably, Adam Rooney of Aberdeen. We're still waiting on confirmation of the proposed signing of Callum Morris who will return to the club after a spell at Dunfermline. It was also in the papers that we've signed 22 year old Austrian midfielder Christian Rabitsch but I've not seen that confirmed by the club yet.
There's also been an interesting interview in the Record with Csaba where he claims that United signed players without having undertaken medicals and he was left with a bunch of duds. I don't know about the first part but I definitely agree with the second part. He also attacks the "comfortable lives" that the players have at Tannadice, and acknowledges the travelling impact which has led to the club trying to enforce a rule that players must live within 25 miles of the city.

Phew, that was a long DUFC News article. Lots going on. On a more personal note, I've taken the decision to renew my season ticket. Not sure how many games I'll actually be able to attend this year for a variety of reasons, but I'm glad I've got it and hopefully I'll get to most of the games.

Last thing DU need is the likes off Tony Watt, hes a tw@t of the highest order an influence that could seriously harm the dressing room.

We've seen a lot of players who don't fulfill their potential but it's particularly frustrating when it's because they just don't put in the work.

I'm in two minds about Watt to be honest.
There's no doubt he has it in him to be a very good player and he *should* run rampage in the Championship. But he's also a phanny and could be more trouble than he's worth.
He'd give us something that nobody else would though so I think he's a gamble worth taking.
