I just did the fitness test. Fark me that was a killer in itself. I was extremely fit until about 25. Played senior amateur football on Saturday’s. Played Sunday’s and trained 2-3 times a week, on top of going gym.
Then tore my ankle ligament. Only managed to play sporadically on Sunday’s since then, and in November I gave up football altogether because of injuries at the grand old age of 29.
At my fittest I was 10 and a half stone, at 5 foot 9 inches. Never really went over 11 stone until 25. But now slowly I’ve managed to get to 13 stone. I’ve felt very unhealthy lately, and while my diet isn’t the worst, it’s not one of an elite athlete either.
I had to do something about it and last week I ordered insanity. I love exercise once I get into it. And chose this because of how intense it looks. Anyone on here completed or tried it? What was your results?
Anyone done Insanity?

OP
I was exactly the same although I was lighter and fitter younger. At 25 - present (28) I'm 13.5 and feel reasonably fit. Still fast and very stocky and strong. Are you planning on lowering your weight to under 13? I am but I'm finding it hard to lighten up for to lifting heavy

I did it. Again. And again. And again. And again.
Didn't notice anything different though.
Might do it again tomorrow, I expect it to be different.

Kinnel! This sounds like me!
I stopped playing at 24 because the "fiancé" at the time wanted me to stop!
I'm now 37, 5'9 and 14 stone! I need to lose at least a stone, feel fat as fook! As for that insanity, you can obtain it via torrents you know?
It looks great, I've tried it, but I live in an apartment full of old biddies, and I'm middle floor out of three, so I can't do much banging about!

Never done a days training or gym work, since I left school. I played lots of sports, and was 11 stone when I was 18, and am still 11 stone at 69. Just enjoy your life fellas.

MOJO, I'm pretty much same height and probably similar build to you, only I'm pushing 50 now. I also went through similar weight gains at more or less your age, peaked at 13 1/2 stone, and then stabilised around 12.
Ivan's advice is sound. Unless you're a total fitness freak, acquiring good eating habits is going to help you control your body weight much more than workout.
Eating habits rather than diets are the key, and precessed foods/ ready-made meals are a killer.
Cook from scratch - it's fun and easy to learn even if you're not good at it now - and eat plenty of salads.
Don't be in a hurry over losing weight. Changing habits is going to do way more for you in the long term than dieting will.
Regular, mild-to-moderate exercise will help you to stay fit and reduce or even totally prevent the aches and pains of ageing, which can start to appear as early as your mid-30s.

Bear in mind it isn't just giving up footy that's made you put on weight.
In your early 20s, you were still naturally growing, adding muscle mass to your body, and leading a generally much more active life. At that age, unless you seriously overdo it, your body can take almost anything you throw at it.
Now your stopped growing 'naturally' and you've become more sedentary, it has much less use for the excess fats and sugars nowadays, but instead of crapping it all out, it's wired to store it for a rainy day.
That's the main reason you need to change your eating habits. I wouldn't obsess though, sooner or later someone will refer to you as 'the chubby fella' and you'll know the time has come.

If you’ve let yourself slip a fair bit, gained weight and are not able to run 5k, then you are going to find insanity really tough. It’s brutal. You get 10 seconds rest every 2mins, and you have to push it. No point going through the motions. Which means you’ll be lucky to get to 7mins without having to stop for a min or so..which is not allowed. Stuff like burpee starjumps are the real killers here.
