A bit lucky.

Not a great performance, although Sterling did ok first half and Stones was good, the midfield were not good enough for most of the second half and Sterling faded. Lingard did well in patches and then disappeared for periods. Some embarrassing diving from Alli as expected but otherwise anonymous and Trippier did well apart from the lapse at the end. Maguire was a steady influence at times when it got heated, impressed he indicated no foul in the penalty area.

Bar the petulant yellow Henderson had his best performance for England, he gets stick for his limitations, probably rightly so but he is so much better than Dier it is no contest. Kane looked lacklustre I thought and Walker nearly allowed another breakaway goal. He does have that in his game still. Anyone know why Vardy did not take a penalty? Surely he would be better than either of the 2 DM's. Vardy did little in the time he was on the pitch really.

Should have blown them away in the first half when England had most of the ball but if you don't put teams away these things happen, late goals seem a feature of this WC.
