What a performance....

Maguire has been immense in his overall play in this tournament. He has a big physical presence, good on the ball and the go-to target in set pieces. Very influential character too.

I think Maguire is better than Bobby Moore

t’s at this point I will say that Maguire hasn’t exactly looked defensively strong for England.
Oh Dear

Ok, I feel I need to tackle Nev head on here.
There is no denying Maguire had a good game against Columbia and has potential to be a very good player. I’m happy he’s a Leicester player.
But to look at his performance and see no fault, no issues. To pretend he didn’t put a foot wrong. That in this World Cup he’s not given the ball away in dangerous positions, got caught wrong side of his man and been guilty of diving in and getting turned to easily hasn’t still been evident.
If you’ve missed that. If you deny that. Well, I’ll put it to you you’re blind.
I want him to succeed and be and England great. I support and love him because he’s Leicester. It doesn’t mean I can’t see that he is currently not Lothar F-ing Matthaus!!!
Sorry, rant over.
Oh dear Mark 2 who said he had not put a foot wrong
BS poor wuming no England Centre half will be as good as Bobby Moore jog off.

I guess Nev I don’t prescribe to the idea Maguire has been exceptional this World Cup because he’s had one decent game!
That doesn’t mean to say I don’t think Maguire can develop in to a top defender. He’s just not there yet...

2 good games. I’d still argue Stones has been a better player. He’s oozed class. Back to fulfilling his potential.
I’m happy like the rest of us foxes that Maguire is doing great. I’m happy for him and pleased to see one of ours do so well. All we need now is for Vardy to score the winner in the final and the dream is made.
But I’m still not fooled in to believing Maguire is suddenly, overnight a world class defender. However I’m happy for the media to hype him up that way if it means we can suddenly command £80m for his signature.
I think sensible clubs will let him have one more year with us to really see what he’s made of. But who knows....

Very true. Wouldn’t have called that before the tournament!! Young inexperienced centreback and his young counterpart dropped and playing hardly any football in the previous 6 months.
Credit to them!
