England midfield

Is it just me or has Dele Alli been awful so far this world cup. Loftus cheek or Delph needs to start the semi for me

I couldn't even begin to imagine the fume around pubs across the UK if Sterling had missed the chance Rashford had vs Belgium

That's because Sterling has rightly or wrongly been allowed more opportunities with England but to less effect, particularly when it comes to finishing.

He has been rubbish all season.

Dele has been playing with an injury.

Sterling and Lingard cause defenders problems with their movement. Despite both not being like Kane in front of goal, I doubt the defenders can take a chance as either could score a goal. Sterling has goals in him. He may not be prolific but he can score. This England thing must play in his mind and may have a mental block he needs to get lifted.

Giroud hasn't scored a single goal for France and hardly had any on target. But the coach still uses him as he has other aspects to his game that brings those around him into play and create chances. Sterling is the same.

I don't like Sterling nor City, but the media witch hunt on certain players do translate onto the fans.

The midfield itself isn’t lacks fluidity because there isn’t anyone to knit the play together. Neither Dele nor Lingard are the type to get things moving in midfield, explains why Kane and England in general are getting so few chances or shots from open play. Didn’t need 5 CB’s and Dier so could have left Jones at home and picked Lallana.

I don’t get all this Loftus-Cheek hype at all. He’s the same age as Dele and has just finished his first full season as a PL player. A season where he did alright but didn’t exactly pull up any trees. Everyone has just gone overboard with him because he had an admittedly impressive England debut.

Still no one can tell me what Sterling brings to the team, the pundits seem to suggest A) his pace scares defences - I disagree, as although his pace will get him clear of a defence, the lack of end product makes it pointless, and B) he gets England down the other end of the field - so do a lot of players, not least Henderson who was terrific yesterday.

I think Rashford should be starting ahead of Sterling now, there is just more end product. Just because I disagree with your opinion, don't tell me I know nothing and then offer no reasons as to why your opinion differs - it cheapens your view further..

Finally I'm not sure what this "agenda" is supposed to be against Sterling, but I can assure you my only problem with him is a lack of end product in this England team. I am frustrated he is not replicating his Man City form for the country.

He has been rubbish all season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He ended the season strongly and played particularly well at the Bridge. What non Spurs fans seem to miss with Dele is that he will give the ball away a lot, more than any other Spurs player in the pursuit of trying to create chances. He doesn't dictate play or add loads defensively. His game is scoring and creating and he delivered again yesterday.

I cant be bothered to explain it really but in very simple terms his movement between the lines and the various different zones he operates in means he moves teams around which greatly helps us. He comes deep, he'll play in the shoulder, he'll protect the ball and he sucks players in.

He was our best attacker yesterday by far.

Football is not played on a spreadsheet.

But if you dont get it, you dont get it. Nothing to be ashamed about.

Alli will have a much better semi and final, he's got the quality and I think it's his time now to step up. This is coming from someone who rates him as a player but not so much as a human, but I think these boys have grown up a lot during this campaign and performed as a real team. No need to shuffle the lineup, same with Raheem, he's done his primary job well, and is due for some top performances these next 2 matches until the cup is won. Have faith. I'm especially proud of our young boys, they've become a real unit.

I wonder whether Southgate is trying to play Alli unto fitness. Goal will have done him the world of good.

Love the arguments with the undertone of undermining Spurs players by the same village idiots who've been slating Spurs players for weeks!

The fact England have now surpassed all expectations and are doing well doesn't suite those cretins here. They would rather England struggle and lose, just so that they can "blame" Spurs players.

Some people live and breed hate!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Funny that not seen anybody criticise tripper or kane maybe because they have played well. Was

If we lose to Croatia the last person I would blame would be alli when he is clearly carrying a knock or is just out of form it would be the person who selected him
