Where the problem with Conte started?

Not sure if this is something you've all read or not but Matt Law released this article literally in the minutes to hours after the news came through yesterday that Conte was sacked (maybe he and the club were waiting on it). Although it is expectedly a bit slanted towards the club, a good read that helps piece together the falling out of Conte and the club.

(original story ran on the Daily Telegraph but need a subscription to see it)

It is a shame it has ended on such bad terms, I think Conte is a great coach who, if he manages to sort out some of his character differences and stubborn squad management could also be a truly great manager. If this hadn't ended so bad I would've predicted we see him back at Chelsea one day.

Like I said, the guy is a baby. No grown man should throw a tantrum like a child when he doesn’t get his way.

What, like Mourinho?

Another interesting bit is Conte wanting Lukaku, Sandro, VVD and Sanchez and getting subsequently annoyed when we didn't. No idea of ins and outs but he also fell out with Juventus over transfers, correct?

Chelsea for years have had 'board' signings with the constant interchanging of managers, and I assume this is something that must've been made clear to Conte when he signed.

I think Law or someone at BBC mentioned its gotta be extremely hard to fall out with Willian, known for being one of the most laid back guys in the squad

Don't know how he lasted as long as he did. It was obvious there was friction with the board last August and then we had some very bad results which normally would have seen the trigger pulled especially when it was clear we wouldn't (or have a lot of difficulty) qualifying for the champions league.

I'm glad that this mangerial nonsense is approaching the end and we have rid ourselves of someone who downs tools when he can't get his way. Thanks Antonio for the title but not for the miserable season you put me through.

I know he's not totally responsible and I hope that Roman or whoever thinks they are in charge sort out the board or the club because we are becoming a facking joke!

The guy is a massive furrrking baby. He essentially was willing to screw over our football club not just by giving up halfway through the season but then by digging his heels in at the end of the season when the time to fire him for his poor behaviour came. All this just because he didn’t get the exact players he wanted. He didn’t care that the ridiculous transfer market made it impossible to sign the players he wanted due to the disgusting prices being demanded for them. He didn’t care that the club still even in those conditions spent the second most money out of any premier league club, second only to Man City. Like I said, the guy is a baby. No grown man should throw a tantrum like a child when he doesn’t get his way.

Mourinho never gave up on Chelsea. Conte did. Mourinho was loyal to Chelsea to the end.

For once i agree with you. He did literally everything wrong in those five months but one thing you can't take away from him is he was still committed to the job.
