Various things didn't help us that season Wieg, but the best team always wins the league over the course of a season so can't make excuses.

It's one of the reasons I don't see 10 in a row or 15 in a row or any in a row as a guarantee. When I look at the chain of events with us that season you realise you are only ever a few injuries or a Manager change away from a turn in fortunes.

Marc Rieper was a tremendous signing. Not only as a player but he also brought the bets out in Stubbs. Stubbs had been a bit of an Efe Ambrose but once he settled with Rieper he never looked back

It took months to get the all-clear but the damage had already been done.
