With transfer fees ever rising at

an alarming rate, how long will it be before £100 million is the going rate for just your bog standard player, with the stella players pushing up to the £500 million mark or more.

I give it five years at most, before these sort of figures become the norm. But is it really sustainable to keep buying players for these sort of fees, even with all the money swirling about in the Prem?

At the moment it seems nothing is stopping these transfer fees from going higher and higher, but will it at some time all come crashing down, or is there absolutely no ceiling to how much players will be transferred for?

Spending lots of money doesn’t mean you’ll win anything.

We didn’t spend 100 million on Harry Kane.

Yeah but you haven't won anything?????

Yet.

I reckon Kane or Salah will be the first 200 mill player.

The bubble has to burst. Maybe someone will find a legal loophole and all games will become free-to-air, that would put the feline quadraped in amongst the avain pests.

I believe the bubble will burst Sandy. The TV money is not sustainable in my opinion. The last round of negotiations where the EPL thought that FB / Google etc might pitch in didn't materialise and personally I cant see why they would without breaking the mould and paying only for who watched each game instead of more or less equal division of income. Not being rude but Spurs vs Pool would generate much more global income for an opt in service than say Cardiff vs Fulham would for example.

The price doesn't really matter it's just paper, net spend is the important thing.

£1billion of new signings isn't a problem if you sell £1.1billion worth of players to fund it.

You were saying the same thing when Trevor Francis went for £1m.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy was saying the same thing when Falkirk signed Syd Puddefoot for 5k in 1922
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it’s Falkirk to blame for distorting the market.
