For the final pre-season friendly Wolves host Villarreal at Molineux. For the home crowd the game will a chance to see the new players in action. And for the new boys: Portuguese keeper Rui Patricio and midfielder Joao Moutiniho, Mexican striker Raul Jimenez, and Spanish wing back Jonny Castro Otto, it will be the first experience of playing at their home ground in front of their home crowd. Being a friendly it is not expected to be a massive crowd but those that do make the effort to turn up are sure to give the new arrivals a taste of what to expect the following week when Everton come to town.
Wolves opponents Villarreal who ply their trade in La Liga, finished 5th in the league last season. They are known to their fans as El Submarino Amarillo (The yellow Submarine) due to their all yellow kit. As this will be in conflict with the Wolves old gold, expect to see them switch to their red away strip for this game.
We know that results are not particularly important for pre-season friendlies but nevertheless, no-one likes to lose a game. With the Championship season kicking off a week ahead of the Premier League, it could be argued that Wolves previous opponents Derby County had benefited from an earlier start to pre-season training and looked all the sharper for it compared with the Wolves players. That being the case, Wolves have no similar excuse this time round as the La Liga season kicks off one week later than the Premier League.

Really good workout against high quality opposition. Wolves were second best first half and lacked any real threat on goal despite some good build up play, and Saiss and Coady were exposed a few times in defence.
But much better after the break and deserved to win the game. The introduction of Bennett instead of Saiss at the break made us look more solid defensively. But the players that lifted us to victory were Moutinho and Jimenez who were excellent in the second period. Castro also had a good second half and Boly was just Boly. Augurs well

Crowd of over 19,000. Can’t have been many bigger attendances for pre season friendlies at Molineux. Sign of the feel good factor at the club nowadays

I watched it on a Facebook stream whilst waiting to board a ferry at Pomey, oddly !

On holiday in Tenerife at the moment, Gol channel showed the whole game after it had finished, only caught second half though. We played some nice football in patches. Defensively a bit sus though. Tightened second half from what I saw and not just due to inclusion of Bennett. All round better defensive team performance.

Didn't even try to watch it in Kazakhstan but I am about to head out into the steppe with a fella who lives here who is from Telford so I am wondering if he may turn out to be a Wolves fan. Here's hoping.
