Yeah Bayliss is gone next summer, not sure who will take over, Silverwood is a possibility as he has come in as a bowling coach and obviously did a fantastic job at Essex.
As also said above, there is no real alternative to Root as there are too few players who have really cemented their place in the team. I actually thought Broad could have made a good captain, smart cricketer with a lot of passion and has an edge about him to rub people up the wrong way. Yes he shows sign of petulance and would probably review his own lbw shouts too often but I think he'd have stamped his personality on the team quite well.
But for now we have to back Root as there's no other viable candidate.

Good shout actually, forgot about him, I thought he was trying to work towards getting the Aussie job. Didn't realise he'd gone to Sussex.

What about bringing someone like Kevin Pieterson as England cricket team coach?

The only way I could see that happening is if Strauss felt the need to make an over the top apology

Reckon Root has done OK. Growing into the job nicely.
Bayliss not so much. There has to be better than him available.

I think Bayliss was seen as someone who could improve out fortunes in one day cricket and he has significantly. A lot of the work going on has been to improve us in this format which has been to some detriment to the test side.
Root is the right man for the job, however when it's backs to the wall stuff to battle it out when times are tough, you rarely see Root succeed here and the whole team has a tendency to roll over. If he can improve that part of his game, I think the team naturally will improve that part of their game.
