I think it is clear for all to see that Sri Lankan cricket is on the decline, as is to be expected when you lose 2 world class bowlers, but in matthews i think they might have found the answer. Matthew's first class batting average is 50, which is excellent, and his bowling average is 40, which is, well, average.
Now, i know that matthews has been a key figure of the limited overs teams for a while now, but i see no reason why he can't convert his fairly impressive one day and t20 stats into good test performances. a first class average of 50 (perhaps not in the most difficult of conditions, but still) is excellent, and demonstrates that matthews has the technique and quality to be a good long format batsman.
Improving his bowling, however may provide a tougher challenge, however, because bowling to contain in an odi is one thing, but taking wickets in a test match is quite another.
I personally believe that matthews has the ability to push on and become Sri Lanka's key man in years to come, and i would go further to say that the future success of Sri Lankan cricket lies to a fairly large extent with Matthews.

He needs to improve on his bowling vastly to be considered a true all rounder. At the moment in test's he is a bits bowler and does not have pace to worry batsman.

Angelo is a mediocre Test bowler. He is a decent batsman though but atm he is nothing more than that.
