I always believed the story that Costa wanted to stay. Conte made a bad call. You cannot replace a forward like Costa easily and he cut his own throat the day he wouldn't accept Costa wanted to stay.

Losing Costa in the manner that happened, was probably the worse decision of recent time by the club. All our hopes were in Morata who just did not justify our hopes. So many fans here bought into the negative spin about Costa, but with hindsight , that was the beginning of all the gloom.

Not weird at all.Its self preservation and damage limitation plus knowing what you are dealing with. Luiz was dropped for speaking his mind. It cost him a World Cup place. Now do you see?
