Kovacic loan move 'with no option to buy'

So I'm thinking: assuming at the end of the season, and Kovacic fits in 120% in Sarri's 'Sarri-ball' philosophy, and both manager and club decide to make the move permanent, how would this pan out, since there's 'no option to buy' in the clause of the loan?

What gives?
Do we make a bid just like any other club, or even if we made a bid, will Madrid be reluctant to sell?
Clarifications please...

What a furrrking baaastard. I know it will never happen, but I'd for Chelsea to beat Real Madrid and humiliate that cuuuunt in the process.
-------------------------------------------------------
The funny thing is all Courtois needed to do was come out with a public statement saying I have no intention of signing a new deal because being with my family is more important to me than playing for Chelsea.

The purist of motives lost in his completely kuntish approach to the move. Hope he flops

Also, completely irrelevant point, but it's funny how in one interview for CFCTV, Kepa has shown more intellect and personality than Courtois did in four years

Seems like a really bright young man.

Exactly, it could’ve been a far more straight-forward, far better received exit but he just couldn’t help being a prlck

If he has a great season, I'd imagine they will want him to come back and compete with Modric who's getting on a bit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What if he doesn't want to go back? Will Madrid be forced to accept a bid?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure If Real want him back he'll go. He won't choose Chelsea over Real.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you would know a lot about that as a United fan. United have made being the bridesmaid to Real Madrid almost an annual tradition.

I hope that Real do sell Kovacic and if we have no option of buying him, then frankly signing him is stupid in my view!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts exactly, especially if he excels. I'm sure there will be a way round it, if the player decides to stay.
On the other hand, RLC by then might be ready to fill in the void if Kovacic leaves.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think RLC will ever be a regular Chelsea starter, I just don't see how he can improve

but saying that, we'll be a mid table team in a year or so, so.. maybe he'll fit right in with us

On Kovacic, if he ends up wanting to stay permanently then I’m sure we can make it happen regardless of a buy option, just would’ve been nice to have the assurance of a set price as we know Madrid will be difficult about the fee now.

They’ll probably try and use him to get Hazard which would be a shame as we’d just say no and have to find someone else instead of Kovacic. He’s probably expecting to replace the 33 year old Modric very soon anyway.

Though Madrid are apparently very keen on Milinkovic-Savic, so Kovacic may just think feck this I’d rather just stay at Chelsea.

Yeah, looks like RM see Kovacic as a replacement for Modric, but can’t promise him game time this season.
This sounds like a good move from RM pov as their player could potentially develop into an o/s player whilst at Chelsea. On the other hand Chelsea benefit from having him on season long and help address our short term issues in midfield.

*replacement => long term successor to Modric

The Kovacic loan has been described as a gift horse....and its not generally done to look in its mouth.
Anything can happen in the next 9 months, including Ronny's prediction of table middling .
If Sarri can bring our talented stars into a motivated band of brothers challenging for Europe next term, then more Kovacics will be queuing up to join the emerging success story

If he is crxp then we pay nothing and give him back. If he is good then I'm sure we will have an option to buy (not sure what is concrete in that deal.
He will have premier league experience, being with us for a season. He will not need to time gel with the squad.
If we can't keep him as someone else mentioned Ruben or even Barkley would of had a season to fully gel with Sarri's system. Win Win 👍🏾
