Bury fininished last season propping up Div One on 36 points from 46 games. They won 8, drew 12, lost 26 with a -30 goal difference.
So far this season has produced a win and a loss, beating Yeovil by a goal to nil on the opening day of the season and seeing two Yeovil players sent off.
The team is managed by Ryan Lowe and Rob Kelly is his assistant. Other familiar names on the first team playing staff might be Jermaine Beckford and Neil Danns.
Without wishing to be disrespectful to Bury this should be a comfortable victory for the Reds.
Karanka's team selection will be interesting, will he field a completely new 18?

I see competitive football has finished in Scotland a couple of months early....

Wow, it was exhausting just reading through that! Still very much a work in progress. Agree it was a team that was thrown together but that is the pressure of a large squad. Don’t think many of them would have worried Karanka’s selection thoughts for Wigan on Sat.

We won which is the main point but our second eleven is questionable, it looks like. Will be interesting how they play in the next cup game.
Goncalves is worrying me. He doesn't seem to have adapted to life in the same way Carvalho and Dias have.

It’s early days yet but it is the law of averages that some foreign players will adapt and some won’t. It is where they have progressed to at the end of the season that matters for Goncalves and Dias as they will be after permanent deals and that means that they would have had to fire Forest to promotion...

One plus point is we know they can all take penalties now, including Luke Steele.

Goncalves looked great early on. Skipped past players to the byline and cut the ball back but the defence smothered it, then chipped in a delightful cross which Cash headed down but wide.
The sending off disrupted a side who were already largely strangers. Goncalves was subbed second half after a dreadful pass which could have led to Bury going two up, but I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Just saw the highlights. Bet Karanka is buying Cash whatever he wants for lunch today. 🤗

Not much to take from that performance other than we very much played as a group of individuals.
I wanted Smith to start, but that performance has knocked Smith firmly back to 3rd choice keeper. Especially with Steele stepping up.
No one has exactly put a massive case forward being put in the first team. I think Yates did well and was a victim of circumstance to be subbed at half time.
Maybe this might get Karanka to think of a back 3?
.....’course not
