Changes for the Wolves match?

Albrighton, Vardy and Iborra in?

posted on 18/8/18

I can’t logically think of a reason for Amartey to keep his place. Don’t get me wrong, he has improved, but he is a utlility player. We have just purchased a right back who got really good reviews on the continental and it seemed a surprised to some European journalists that Leicester managed to get Pereira.

For me, he looks like he can offer as much from right back as right wing, is likely to be who plays there long term so play him there and Amartey does always look like he has an error in him.

It also is a chance to actually play Albrighton on the right primarily to see what he still has to offer and he is excellent at covering and tracking back (when RB isn’t his main role).

My only issue, is that we don’t play 442 and that role on he right will probably be about pace and flair as well as getting the ball in the box (which clearly Pereira can do and possibly sees him as a possibly better option that’s Albrighton in a 4231)

However. Pegs. Holes. If that is the thought process for Puel - play a RB in Pereira at RB and Ghezzal, a winger, as a winger in the three behind Vardy. I expect Puel will be looking for the two sitting midfielders to drop across and provide additional cover.

......I don’t know if I’ve just talked myself out of Albrighton playing :D

....but I definitely haven’t talked myself into Amartey starting...I just would find it wholely frustrating to play a CM who has been used, poorly to adequately, to cover RB when we have two competent right backs at the club !!

Ps - Demarai Gray bleating on about playing for the full England team again. He feels this is his ‘next target’....really? Not playing every week first and contributing for his club team?

Vardy in for Ian, which would be a tad unfair on Ian and I wouldn't mind if Claude keeps him on, provided he doesn't try having both on at the same time.

KTF - you don't need to make a detailed analysis about dropping Amartey for Pereira - it's a no-brainer. I will be seriously worried about Puel if he persists with last week's line up at the back.

Either Albrighton or Ghezzal on the right, depending on how defensively minded Claude feels today.

Yeah let’s slate him for having ambitions. If playing for England is his target then it means he has to perform for us - good for him. You get nowhere in life if you don’t have goals. He’s not stupid and he knows he won’t walk into the England team tomorrow so he needs to perform for Leicester.

I am a teacher Blackstarr, I try to encourage children to achieve as much as possible and aim for the stars: ambition is a super asset.

My reflection was based on collective interviews and statements over recent years during, which time, Gray has underperformed and been nowhere near the England team. As such, his determination, ambition, own personal career professional development and public reflections should be based around, as mentioned, integration and consistent performances for his primary employer - Leicester City.

“England is his target then it means he has to perform for us”

I have the complete opposite mantra to this. His target should be to perform for Leicester City and as a result or consequence do well for England - not vice versa.

Scroll back in recent weeks - I wrote about being optimistic about Gray and his development on the pitch and for me personally, that is where his talking should be done. Obviously if a player is performing at a consistent and high level and not yet breaking into an international team - this is bound to be on their mind and, as such, reflected in interviews. But Gray isn’t in this position at the moment and I’d just be tapering these sorts of interviews if I was, whoever it is (hopefully someone!), that was supporting him from this media perspective.

Amartey out, Allbrighton in.

Vardy in for Ian but with Ian getting a decent period on as a sub.

KTF1 - my issue is I don’t think Albrighton can play the quick tippy tappy football Puel wants. So as much as I rate him, I don’t think he should start.

Maybe you’re right and Ghezzal should start, but that might leave us exposed on the right.

KTF - you sound like a teacher if I’m honest Don’t get ideas above your station and all that, it’s how your comments come across to me. It’s almost like you’re expecting Demarai Gray to keep a personal record of achievement that he can present back to Puel at the end of the season, with stars and all.

‘I have the complete opposite mantra to this. His target should be to perform for Leicester City and as a result or consequence do well for England - not vice versa.’

It makes no difference which way round it is, Leicester City benefit as a result. If he wants to play for England he has to perform at his current club. Do you not think he realises that? Absolutely nothing wrong with him stating his ambition.

“you sound like a teacher if I’m honest Don’t get ideas above your station and all that“

I guess we have extremely different opinions of how practitioners learn with children but everyone is entitled to an opinion and there is no right or wrong However, if your experience of learning is that you felt repressed and held back, that is very sad to hear

“It’s almost like you’re expecting Demarai Gray to keep a personal record of achievement that he can present back to Puel at the end of the season, with stars and all.“

Not at all. The complete opposite again for me Blackstarr. Gray’s job is to get his head down and just concentrate on his football - Not his job at all to track stats and all those details that can benefit the player, and more importantly the team. I’d be extremely worried if we didn’t have someone paid at the club for this (it was an important part of our success under Pearson) and of course, as a manager, this is exactly Puel’s job.

In terms of my view of what Gray does and doesn’t know and how that it articulated in the public eye - see above. However, I do think there is a significant difference between concentrating on Leicester and England as a consequence and vice versa but I’ve already spoken about that above.

In terms of his prospects as a player on the pitch - again as mentioned, it’s in a previous article but I am very optimistic - Despite getting heckled somewhat for it recently amongst friends

Gray had his second ever good game I’ve seen him in a leicester shirt against utd.

Let’s hope that becomes the rule rather than the exception.
