this year how embarrassing would it be for the WTA? I hear she is playing at Eastbourne. Would she be seeded at Wimbledon?

To answer your question, not embarrassing at all. Kim Clijsters did it in 2009 and won the US Open by beating BOTH Williams sisters, this after taking a 2 year sabbatical.
I don't see what the issue is if Serena did the same. She's World-Class athlete and a star attraction to Wimbledon, it would only benefit the Women's tournament.
I will definitely be paying to see her again.

At the moment her ranking is 25 so she will be seeded she has 2000 points, all from winning Wimbledon last year.
Whether the Wimbledon authorities decide her seeding should be a lot higher because of her injuries remains to be seen.
I think it would be embarrassing for the WTA if someone who has been out for so long like Serena was to go on and win.

No more embarrassing than the women's game is already. We've known it's lacked depth for ages.

So when Goran Ivanisevic won.....? The Williams sisters have proved themselves to be very astute in picking and choosing tournaments, mostly all the slams except the French, while the likes of Dinara Safina and now Caroline Wozniacki reach no 1 playing every event going, and failing to win a slam.
